  • how do you record midi to audio after you get it into the mpc? when i record back into the pc i only get the drums i banged out on my mpc pads and not the midi instruments

  • you dont have to buy a huge fucking mpc for 2000 dollars

    just by akai lpd

  • OMG THAT STUDIO DOSENT EVEN HAVE REAL DRUMS OR GUITAR MINE DOES

  • Who did the Subtitles? Where they keep saying Vidi it should be MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface)

  • i swear expert village is a drug front...

  • @StrosB4Hos lol

  • @StrosB4Hos lol

  • this guy talks like a massive stoner. it's pissing me off. most modern...digital keyboards....have MIDI in...and out................ports...............however...most computers don't have..............MIDI in and out ports.

  • fuck this you don't help anyone waste my fucking time go eatu fushunnus

  • ¿ midi to usb ¿

  • this had to be a joke....Right?

  • Vidi?, or MIDI.

  • I'm seriously offended by this guy. How dare he use Studio & Recording in the same sentence! A studio is more than just a computer with some software & a midi keyboard! The thing is this guy has some decent mics one being a C-414 & some ok Ref Monitors. But yet has zero acoustic treatment in the room & hasn't even set his listening position in the correct spot! You can have all the best toys but if ur not located in the room properly & have no acoustic treatment whats the point? NO EXPERT!!!!!!!

  • expert my ass

  • can i hear my ableton back through my keyboard that has speakers,,thought simple question but ableton only answer dumb ass obvious questions

  • Why does the caption keep reading vidi?

  • I hate Expert Village!!!

  • Why did'nt you just do an audio file, whats the point of sitting there with a studio as a backdrop and doing nothing but sat in an exective chair just spouting. No value to anyone at all. iwas going to say sorry for my comments but you know what I'm saying anyway.

  • Most modern midi controllers and keyboards come with a USB /midi interface. You can often plug in your older equipment to the computer connected components to receive software based midi signals.

A midi interface can cost a lot, so if you think you'll need one and you don't have a recording interface, try to find one that has both analog recording ins and midi in & out. You'll need to learn about midi and what it is and isn't as well.

  • wow!....i didn't learn squat!

  • does anyone know if midi cables only come in one size? i'd like to get one but i'll be damned if i buy one that's too small or too big.

  • There is a standard midi cable which i am most certain you are looking for. It typically has 5 pins sticking out in a horse shoe shaped curve. Check the Midi in on your device to see if it corresponds to the "standard cable" which i am sure it would. If your not sure google "midi Cable". Go to images to see for yourself.

  • @EpicXI lol yes all midi cables are the same size

  • What about fucking Game ports on soundblaster and older computers

  • man i want a beat maker soooo soo bad.but there so damn expensive!!!

  • Reason 4 has all you need. :) Cheers!

  • @RyanRadiculous its called an mpc lol

  • yeah i know

  • even after finding out what they were called i still liked to call them beat makers lol

  • ahaha wow.....i have a midi but i guess the vidi just came out.....how does it work hahaha......

  • this was the fucking worst vid ever!

  • oooooooo!!!!! ok !! i see!!

  • The words "Musical Instrument Digital Interface" should be heard in this vid. By now it really does not make any sense to the world.

  • Ok people I wanna know something. I have an electric drum with a midi slot. How can I record it on my computer on a software like Audacity?

  • you cant use midi with audacity, you could run a lead from your output of your drums into the input on your computer or your interface to record just the audio of the drums though.

  • dont use audacity is your first step

  • If you have a creative labs soundblaster from around windows 2000 was around you can use the game port and stereo mix to record the sound from midi

  • i can hear the music in my head phones but not my voice when im recording some one told me to turn my external output "on" but icant find it!!!! some one help!!!! plz!!!!!

  • the guy talks a lot to say absolutelly nothing usefull. Should be banned!

  • A bitch got offended coz he is a faggot...

and he is under my comment...

  • what the fuck is a NOOB?

That has to be the gayest fucking think to say!

And if your better then Dre i would assume you being doing something else with your life and not boasting about your self on youtube!

  • what abouth a firewire on a USB 4 a midi contr??? is thet a good decision? i mean by quality?

  • LOL I've never used a vidi controller.

  • P.S UPDATE UR EQUIPMENT... UR ROLLIN IN D 70's no wonder why u kno so much about it

  • daamn man, wats goin on. this is the second video ive watched and the first one has nothing to do with the title " how to build a home studio" its more about how to pass an exam about 1970's pop music. U wasting space here man. Just get to the point. U need bla bla bla n u get bla bal bal from bla bla bla den u connect it to bla bla bla and u have a studio. JEEEZ!!!

  • This is abysmal; epic fail to say the least.

  • ummm and these things are HOW MUCH?

  • i agree with you!!!

    totally!!

  • Fuck you talk a lot of shit mate, Im building a studio now and ive just watched 10 of your videos and not one of them helped me...tosser

  • watch my vid,and ask questions,i WILL answer

  • @MentalyUndermined iz a tosser liek a chutney ferret???

  • Is this some DIY for people after lobotomy?? :D

  • NEXT U LOOK LOST

  • wow!! what useless crap! if you would make videos more than one minute long you could probably say something useful, you never even explained what the fuck midi is! all you said is you connect it with a midi cable. your a JENIUSSSS

  • u suk at this stuff.

  • the 2000xl is so overrrated.

  • screw hiphop, what about live sound?

  • i know right?

  • thanks for nothing asshole

  • how would you go about hooking up and syncing a MPC500 to a Keystation49i nad Reason3, fruity loops 5, and cubase essential 4

  • so another thing to consider......when designing your studio......is something called midi............control.......

most modern digital keyboards have midi in and out..........ports........

hahaha wow... does this guy really know anything about production hardware and software?

  • u r soooo right!

  • this video doesnt really help at all ^^ I have read articles and watched videos and stuff around the net for a few years and now im setting up my studio stepwise. Im going a bit old school, and use an atari 1040ST...

  • wtf

  • uhmm so when does he talk about MMC (MIDI machine Code) or the all important MTC (MIDI Time code)????

  • why do they have like 50 videos on how to build a home recording studio instead of just one so I dont have to go around and find ones I havent seen already this sucks

  • The reason the videos are so short, is it takes time to upload them.

It takes a while to upload, so a 90 min. tutorial would take all day.

It would be nice if the content were scripted, and more concise. I have been a recording engineer since the late 80s, and I am finding this material a bit confusing.

"Expert Village" is in it's infancy though, so I am certain that as time travels on, the content will become more informative and better produced.

  • I think the reason is more simple than that: expert village is a video sharing service - just like YouTube. Anyone can sign up there and uploa a video.

If you know what Web2.0 means, it is easy to understand why all the videos has been uploaded here, to YouTube. Traffic and numerous inbound links back to Village Expert.

The materials are not harmonized and never will be, I am afraid. So let's dig deeper to find the best.

  • @Branman1994 - First of all you can't explain how to build a recording studio in 20mins. You can explain a basic Music Production set up in 20mins tho. Don't get confused this is music production this guy is no where near qualified to talk about studios and recordings! So take what he says with a grain of salt! Instead I'd go to the Sound On Sound website... There is Qualified people that know what they are talking about! Research on there on building a home studio!!
  • I 'm speechless...

  • You dont need a MIDI adaptor. MIDI controllers have usb to usb jacks, so why spend?

  • fuck you

  • Comment removed

  • All this just to say you need MIDI. =\

  • Is he slow?

  • what about USB to USB!!!

  • you got to do better than this guys. I'm no expert but i didn't learn a thing. way to basic.

  • blah blah!

  • I watched this video only because there was an Akai MPC (same as Dr. Dre uses), but this video is for retards, so fuc* it!

  • is that a keyboard with speaker on it? come on how can you tell us how to build a studio when your not done building yours. lol

  • wtf is the point of ur damn videos man ur shit is so whack , u mad whack

  • I havent actually learnt anything :\

  • uuuhhhh, dubdub, uuuuhhhh, yeah.

  • i got pro tools with Vista andi have no issues<<

  • me to everybody say vista has alot of errors ive had vista forever and ive never had an error ive never even had a virus!!

  • THIS GUY IS POOR....

  • foshow

  • I concur

  • fuck you schwipt how do you say to sombudy you are poor fukyou man i hate you fuckin hors:@ fuck ja sisters

  • I HATE Expert Village bullshit videos.

  • Yeah me too, they just don't help at all. Here's my low down to building a studio: Here are the things you will need: A computer, mac or pc, or a reel to reel tape an audio interface for your computer decent monitors relevant microphones a midi keyboard with external interface if you need to, or via usb a mixing desk musical instruments + amplification FX units, with patch bay if you want If you're studio sounds horrible, use acoustic foam etc to dampen the sound. That's a basic home setup
  • hahaha

  • wtf??? all his equip is old as hell lmao dude. get updated pleaase lol.. wut kind of computer is that?? windows 98?? lmao

  • Well then try it with Vista... you will see that 90 percent of the interfaces doesn't work with Vista, for recording it's better to run a computer on XP or 98. Also this doesn't say anything about the computer's performances.

  • wat do u mean my studio runs on windows vista

  • Well I don´t say it is impossible, but for most hardware, there aren´t drivers for Vista available...

  • Indeed true...Still using an XP Pro machine to record with..However my Vista machine hasn't really given me any problems with interfaces yet

  • lol

  • another useless video from expert village...

  • Would it be to much to ask to have the whole tutorial on one shot?

This is third video I open and still haven't get into it.

  • ah ah ah, that's a joke!

  • "most modern digital keyboards have MIDI in and out.............. ports" wtf?

  • No it's true. I know CASIO doesnt have one ^_^

  • it must be cold in there

  • who the hell can learn anything from a minute long video

  • can this guy just get on with it for fuck sake

  • Its like he just smoked a fat blunt to the dome or something. damn man, shits makin you slow as hell.

  • LOL ya that's what i was thinking too. can i get some of what he's smoking please?

  • Where can a beginner, like a new born baby go to find out about MIDI. simple connection and basics on a computer, every time I see how to use Midi there is someone sitting there with all this fancy equipment that costed like thousands of dollars and i dont' have all that stuff, alls I have is just my Synth workstation and my computer and then plan to just buy a simple program like CakeWalk or something under $100. where do beginners go?

  • What a wanker the whole lot of you....piss off.

  • The MPC is used in House music aswell right? The kicks are just great on it!

  • hi everyone, i have fl studio and have made alot a beats so far. i also rap too. but im lost on how i can put my voice on cd. basically im tryin to make quality sounding music cd's from my home. can anyone help me, by telling me what i need to buy???????

  • Well to be honest mate alot of reasonable priced sequencers have extreamly great quality recording. Personally get cubase studio 4, Fruity loops is alright for hip hop production but when it comes to mixing and mastering it would be best to export your track from fruity loops into another sequencer to do some EQ work and compression etc. Hope this helped :)

  • so, can i directly plug up an mpc to a mixer and from my mixer to a reel-to-reel recorder?

  • Well it can go though a midi keyboard 'midi' in socket from you midi 'out' on your MPC then midi 'in' from you keyboard into desk. If you have a software sequencer that would be a bit better than reel but to be honest that's a person musicians choise

  • fuck this video !!

  • Look up "how to use midi" and watch my video.

  • well it was a fair production but the info wasnt too helpful...

I still feel lost on the subject of MIDI

Write up a script and reshoot the project, I'm sure everyone will be happy you did.

  • I'd suggest a book which helped me called 'The Dance Music Manual' by Rick Snoman if your creating electronic music or hip hop. It's quite complex so you gotta have a reasonable understanding

  • What a useless piece of crap! This should be called *EXPERT VILLAGE IDIOT*!

  • What do you call this drum-machine again? I mean, model unit is it, and how much does it cost?

  • MPC 2000xl...the price depends. Your best vbet would be to look on ebay

  • There is no message inside!!!

    Realy no..message.....!!

    No...Nothing!!!

  • what the hellthis is so useless

  • YOU USELESS piece of GARBAGE !

  • he is high look at his eyes lolololol

  • maybe you shouldnt be high while filming a video, just a thought

  • not even the basics!!! thanks for wasting my time.
