how do you record midi to audio after you get it into the mpc? when i record back into the pc i only get the drums i banged out on my mpc pads and not the midi instruments
this guy talks like a massive stoner. it's pissing me off. most modern...digital keyboards....have MIDI in...and out................ports...............however...most computers don't have..............MIDI in and out ports.
I'm seriously offended by this guy. How dare he use Studio & Recording in the same sentence! A studio is more than just a computer with some software & a midi keyboard! The thing is this guy has some decent mics one being a C-414 & some ok Ref Monitors. But yet has zero acoustic treatment in the room & hasn't even set his listening position in the correct spot! You can have all the best toys but if ur not located in the room properly & have no acoustic treatment whats the point? NO EXPERT!!!!!!!
Why did'nt you just do an audio file, whats the point of sitting there with a studio as a backdrop and doing nothing but sat in an exective chair just spouting. No value to anyone at all. iwas going to say sorry for my comments but you know what I'm saying anyway.
Most modern midi controllers and keyboards come with a USB /midi interface. You can often plug in your older equipment to the computer connected components to receive software based midi signals.
A midi interface can cost a lot, so if you think you'll need one and you don't have a recording interface, try to find one that has both analog recording ins and midi in & out. You'll need to learn about midi and what it is and isn't as well.
There is a standard midi cable which i am most certain you are looking for. It typically has 5 pins sticking out in a horse shoe shaped curve. Check the Midi in on your device to see if it corresponds to the "standard cable" which i am sure it would. If your not sure google "midi Cable". Go to images to see for yourself.
you cant use midi with audacity, you could run a lead from your output of your drums into the input on your computer or your interface to record just the audio of the drums though.
i can hear the music in my head phones but not my voice when im recording some one told me to turn my external output "on" but icant find it!!!! some one help!!!! plz!!!!!
daamn man, wats goin on. this is the second video ive watched and the first one has nothing to do with the title " how to build a home studio" its more about how to pass an exam about 1970's pop music. U wasting space here man. Just get to the point. U need bla bla bla n u get bla bal bal from bla bla bla den u connect it to bla bla bla and u have a studio. JEEEZ!!!
wow!! what useless crap! if you would make videos more than one minute long you could probably say something useful, you never even explained what the fuck midi is! all you said is you connect it with a midi cable. your a JENIUSSSS
this video doesnt really help at all ^^ I have read articles and watched videos and stuff around the net for a few years and now im setting up my studio stepwise. Im going a bit old school, and use an atari 1040ST...
why do they have like 50 videos on how to build a home recording studio instead of just one so I dont have to go around and find ones I havent seen already this sucks
The reason the videos are so short, is it takes time to upload them.
It takes a while to upload, so a 90 min. tutorial would take all day.
It would be nice if the content were scripted, and more concise. I have been a recording engineer since the late 80s, and I am finding this material a bit confusing.
"Expert Village" is in it's infancy though, so I am certain that as time travels on, the content will become more informative and better produced.
I think the reason is more simple than that: expert village is a video sharing service - just like YouTube. Anyone can sign up there and uploa a video.
If you know what Web2.0 means, it is easy to understand why all the videos has been uploaded here, to YouTube. Traffic and numerous inbound links back to Village Expert.
The materials are not harmonized and never will be, I am afraid. So let's dig deeper to find the best.
@Branman1994 - First of all you can't explain how to build a recording studio in 20mins. You can explain a basic Music Production set up in 20mins tho. Don't get confused this is music production this guy is no where near qualified to talk about studios and recordings! So take what he says with a grain of salt! Instead I'd go to the Sound On Sound website... There is Qualified people that know what they are talking about! Research on there on building a home studio!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You sound like a pretty smart guy. You even speak the English language correctly. Why get into hip hop? most smart guy's go rock and metal. Don't sell yourself short "dog".....................
Yeah me too, they just don't help at all. Here's my low down to building a studio: Here are the things you will need: A computer, mac or pc, or a reel to reel tape an audio interface for your computer decent monitors relevant microphones a midi keyboard with external interface if you need to, or via usb a mixing desk musical instruments + amplification FX units, with patch bay if you want If you're studio sounds horrible, use acoustic foam etc to dampen the sound. That's a basic home setup
Well then try it with Vista... you will see that 90 percent of the interfaces doesn't work with Vista, for recording it's better to run a computer on XP or 98. Also this doesn't say anything about the computer's performances.
Where can a beginner, like a new born baby go to find out about MIDI. simple connection and basics on a computer, every time I see how to use Midi there is someone sitting there with all this fancy equipment that costed like thousands of dollars and i dont' have all that stuff, alls I have is just my Synth workstation and my computer and then plan to just buy a simple program like CakeWalk or something under $100. where do beginners go?
hi everyone, i have fl studio and have made alot a beats so far. i also rap too. but im lost on how i can put my voice on cd. basically im tryin to make quality sounding music cd's from my home. can anyone help me, by telling me what i need to buy???????
Well to be honest mate alot of reasonable priced sequencers have extreamly great quality recording. Personally get cubase studio 4, Fruity loops is alright for hip hop production but when it comes to mixing and mastering it would be best to export your track from fruity loops into another sequencer to do some EQ work and compression etc. Hope this helped :)
Well it can go though a midi keyboard 'midi' in socket from you midi 'out' on your MPC then midi 'in' from you keyboard into desk. If you have a software sequencer that would be a bit better than reel but to be honest that's a person musicians choise
I'd suggest a book which helped me called 'The Dance Music Manual' by Rick Snoman if your creating electronic music or hip hop. It's quite complex so you gotta have a reasonable understanding
