The system runs 24/7. With some (very) loose calculations, I believe I can disconnect the solar panel and still operate for at least 3 days. Even under overcast skies the batteries does receive a charge. The battery is a deep cycle marine battery with an 85Ah rating.
The male tilapia have the large lips the female have a softer feminine looking frame. If you separate the sexes the males and females will grow large.
I've got a 60 watt panel set up charging 2 semi batteries that operate a bilge pump on a float with a $20 dollar charge controller. My bilge pump is a 800gph that uses just 2 amps. I use no bubbler because the pumps aerate the water enough.
@darbee63 That's more power than I generate and use. Your power setup should sustain a larger aquaponiics system. I will try to post an updated video soon.

What plants are floating in those 100 gallon tubs? How do you keep them in the Winter if your place has snow? (eat them all? ~^_^~)

How do you prevent the controller from turning the pumps off at night or when the battery becomes weak?

Shoot water back into your fish tanks from the pump, use a valve on that return to control your flow rate, this will reduce wear on your pump.
