To usforcessupporter: I share the distaste with you about copying and imitation by the Chinese. But this phenomenon is not only with the Chinese. This is human behavior and copying is equally rampant in the US, just that you don't notice it. Love or hate the Chinese. 10 years from now, it could be US copying Chinese more than the other way round.  Anyway, I personally feel that she's a very good singer.

The point is not that she should not sing this song, or even that her English isn't good (I haven't a clue whether her English is "good" or not, which is not the same as finding her pronounciation faulty). I've heard many singers sing in languages other than their native tongue, but most -work- on their pronounciation so they actually end up sounding like they are fluent in the language, even when they are not. Working on perfecting your performance, that is the issue here....

If you are going to sing in a language you are clearly not fluent in, at least do some work on pronounciation rather than butcher the song (which is disrespectful to the song writer). Chinese comedians habitually make fun of "foreigner" who try to speak Chinese dialects with "western accents", I call double standard in your defensive comment.

She sings with an accent, but I understand her fine! Her accent wasn't so strong in this song, compared to her version of Shania Twain's "Any Man of Mine". Even with an accent, it's obvious she's a good singer.

i really feel that in a song competition based in china. There shouldn't be allowed to sing in any other language except in chinese.

In this song, she took it too far, no you don't try to be creative in a way which twist the pronunciation. But this show that if they mimic the original singer style, they cant go wrong. Change the style and they fell all over the place. I seriously wanted to know whether they know what they are singing. What is the meaning of the songs? maybe they know.
