@BriefHistoryOfTime Haven't come across that meaning, Grand Architect/Geometrician of the Universe or God are generally accepted as the meanings. I've also heard Geometry asserted to be a meaning as in the middle ages Geometry had a basis in astronomy and so seemed linked to the heavens and the divine, so that things constructed using geometry (such as the great cathedrals) had a direct link to the divine.

@BriefHistoryOfTime And what we do is done under three great lights, the volume of sacred law (the bible or whatever Holy Book you follow), the square and compass, the first being emblematic of how all we do is under God's (Great Architect/Geometrician) law. The Square so that our actions are square with the law and the compass that our passions are circumscribed and kept within bounds.

I have studied this subject extensively regarding the esoteric symbolism of the masons.

It is in their actual structures they have built that tell of the symbols metaphysical meaning.

For in their structures, there is functionality as talismans.

This is far more telling than what is written in a book as low level masons are not in on the elite interpretations.

And I would agree that the G, not the letter, but the symbol is representative of a spiral and its physics and metaphysics...energy.
