I'm wondering ¿Why nowadays we don't sing this kind of great "drinker songs" in pubs and we listen to Lady Gaga and so on? i mean, I have nothing against them, but this is real pub music, not "Bad Romance"... xD
@frantic1971; In regart to your post of Piano Man by Billy Joel about a year ago, A lonely song of quiet lives. Not really desperate...but filled with heart breaks that is a part of life.
thinks that one person doesn't have a life. (to dislike this)
Im only 14, which makes everyone think I don't understand this type of music, but they're all wrong. I was raised on this music and it means the world to me.
this is my favorite song in the all fucking world it meens a lot to me but my girlfriend doesn´t remember about this what you think does she really love me?
I heard this when i was little and always said i would join the Navy, and when i did i played this song as loud as i could. love the video first time i have ever seen it and love it!!!!
some of the best song of all time tell a story and people can sit and debate what the moral or even what the stroy line is and what it means to them .EWveryone has there own experiance which form their own opinion .But at the end of the day a good song will speak to you .That my opinion anyway
no matter whatever comment any person can make about this extraordinary song, it will never be forgotten and it will always be remembered as one of the icons ot the XX th century, Billy Joel has its well earned place in human memory just beacause he was and thanks God still is "THE PIANO MAN"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thoreau once said "the majority of men are doomed to live quiet lives, of silent desperation". And Billy's song epitomizes this perfectly. About ordinary people, just like you and me, who realize that our lives are probably going to be quite ordinary. That most of us will never be rich or famous or movie stars or make much of a mark in the world after we are gone. Yet Billy Joel consoles us with the great line "They're sharing a drink they call loneliness, but it's better then drinking alone".
@frantic1971 See that's the problem you don't need to be rich, famous or an actor to leave a mark in this world. There are a lot of ways that will make you be always in the mind of someone.

Agreed,we all can't have our 15 minutes of fame. So drink and be merry, forget your faults and dream of what your life could be.

@frantic1971 well i thinks is more about the different stories that they coincide in one place to forget about the outside world for a while.

I've never entirely agreed with that last line. More often than not, I find it mentally more peaceful being alone!
