Viewing your website, you actually know your stuff I'd say. In my opinion, a lot of the Baroque era music feels like it should be metal, ha. I'll assume you did the bass out of your own interpretation, so I can't complain if that's the case!
@AnonymousInfantry thanks for the comments. FWIW on the original recording the guitar and bass are more balanced...they were meant to be on equal footing so that the counterpoint didn't get lost.
But here on the video the guitar's louder since I'm playing it live, so I can see what you're saying.
@eschnack Indeed, I listened to the recording on your website and I must say the quality is better than youtube, and the bass is more pronounced. You should do more of this stuff, it's pretty awesome. Particularly more fugue material like your video "Bach Fugue in C Minor" from the WTC. It's basically awesome.
The drums really make this funny. Not in a bad way necessarily, but the first episode after the three announcements of the motive just sounds fun.
That is one reason I don't like guitar and bass covers of this song. You lose the second announcement of the motive because the bass isn't really audible, and in my opinion, losing the effect of counterpoint in total, let alone the invention. Most people don't do things like this, so it's not like I'm bashing you for it, as this is good regardless.
No problem, I'm always open to suggestions. I tried doing more trills, but didn't really like how it sounded in this arrangement. Maybe I'll try them again, see what happens. Thanks for the comment!
