i will tell you something. When you edit players ratings to 999 or something like that (whichever possible max value) and then when you run, pass or shoot, whatever you do was quite excessive. when i shoot, The ball was going to the sky and after hitting to the sky the ball was violently bouncing back to the field. it was fucking hilarious.

This game almost cost me my marriage, my 486 pc was just too slow for this game. I remember seeing it at lakeside shopping centre with the missus and begging her for £200 for a pentium overdrive processor for my aging computer just so I could play this game. She said no but I still got it. She was fuming and never forgave me. A couple of years later she did leave one of the reasons being spending too much time on the computer.

I've happily married again since then too a more lenient women.

Gremlin who made Actua Soccer were setting a mark with these games, not only was it the first football game fully in 3D but they were first with a lot features throughout the series. Things we take for granted like linesmen were introduced first in Actua series and only later in the Fifa series by EA. Shame they are still not around, enjoyed the Actua series a lot.

I used to like this game, but it was junk. Even though the graphics and sounds were good, it had too many flaws.

I remember in PK shootout it could be impossible to score or to miss. If you had a fast player, you could go all the way through the field and easily score.

Sometime the computer would do a volley and score from the midfield, right after a goal kick.

And the goal celebration was pretty lame too.

I remember how easy it was to score with keepers on this game. Once I finished a season with David James top scorer for Liverpool

It was incredible back in the day - no other soccer game had managed to portray a match in full 3D graphics and commentary - only FIFA '96, which didn't even manage 3D player models, came close, and that was a joke.

Sadly, the game hasn't withstood the test of time well - the camera is horrific, the tackling is piss-poor, and the game just feels stiff. It's not like Sensi Soccer, International Soccer or the older ISS games, which still have their charm today - this one's aged very, very badly.

Great game! In the spanish installation, the comments of the relator are very funny, I don't know how it was in english. One of the best things of Actua Soccer is the replay control, it rocks! Even better than the one of its sequels, yes sir ;-) I still have this game :-D

This was made in 1995 and released in 1996 - you have to compare it with what else was around at that time. This was the first game of its type, the first game in the world to use motion capture and hence the first real 3D footy game. Of course it had issues, it was the first time anything like that had been done, but it pi**ed on FIFA and all other footy sims at that time. Needless to say several of the team were hired by EA for FIFA soon after this. Anyone have clips of the Actua Euro 96 game?
