  • Very nice video! I've been a fan of this beautiful song since I first heard it on a school trip to Indiana Dunes summer of '63. Not much has stayed with my life so long and I enjoy it till this day. TKU!

  • nice song!!

  • I look up when i walk so the tears won't fall remembering those happy spring days

    but tonight i'm all alone.

I look up when i walk counting the stars with tearful eyes remembering those happy summer days but tonight i'm all alone

Happiness lies beyond the clouds happiness lies above the sky

I look up when i walk so the tears won't fall though my heart is filled with sorrow

    for tonight i'm all alone

Remembering those happy autumn days but tonight i'm all alone

    "sniff" :'-/

  • now i know what to listen to when looking at manga

  • 日本がんばれよ!

  • The reason it was tagged as "Sukiyaki song" is because of it's success and the Americans difficulty with pronouncing the Japanese title. Only foreign language song to ever reach # 1 in the U.S. 1963. "I look up when I walk" so my tears won't fall.

  • The real name of the song (translating Ue O Muite Arukou from Japanese) is "I Look Up When I Walk". I believe nowhere on original Japanese pressings of the single was to be found the word "Sukiyaki" (a beef dish), and nothing in the Japanese lyrics suggests anything to do with food

  • for me, Japan is a magical place, it's a shame that others do not think so, too, because they are so clumsy that the confused with the Chinese and Koreans that stupid, but in the end everything east is beautiful, filled with where is the sun seems it dies and is born every day, but Japan is my dream for me my biggest fantasy and wait to be there just one day.

  • @sixpackokc1 If you really loved Japan, why did you send two new clear missiles at Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Your love to Japan is totally fake.

  • @Dan90iel1

It was two nuclear bombs and they saved millions of lives, American and Japanese.

  • @RetSquid as terrible as it was to use those weapons it did save countless lives on both sides the U.S. was winning. the closer they got to the Japanese home land the more intense and fearsome the fighting became. the collective pride of the Japanese people would have caused them to fight to the last man, woman and child. The loses would have been over whelming. side note Japan had its own nuclear program at the time MM1(ss)RT

  • @sixpackokc1 Bless?,why would you even bless Japann? so much shit you did during the world war its unforgiven.Only the asians is one,and never a part of your country.

  • @Dan90iel1

Ever heard of Pearl Harbor? Fuck with the bull you get the horns.

  • it so sad :(

    go japan!!!

  • The tragedy unfolding in Japan today is terrible beyond words. I find myself so deeply saddened for those who have lost loved ones, friends, homes and jobs. I am a believer that the Salvation Army does more with your donated dollars than any other organization, and they're easy to find. Just open any phone book.

    May relief come soon!

  • I remember this song when I was a kid and I couldn't imagine a better video to go with it. Good job!

  • QUE CANCIÓN MAS BELLA , YO LA RECUERDO DE NIÑA,ME GUSTA EL CANTANTE, TAN MELODIOSO, UN GRAN ABRAZO AL PUEBLO JAPONES POR LA TRAGEDIA DEL DÍA 11 DE MARZO , DESDE CHILE UN ABRAZO FRATERNO , POR ESTE MOMENTO TAN TERRIBLE, DE TANTO DOLOR , PERDIDAS HUMANAS, QUE DIOS LOS AYUDE

  • I adore this video and this great singer!

  • For some reason I thought this was a "western" song. ("Western" as in cowboys and indians - the "Wild West" - not "Western" as in the geopolitical term.)

Weird. I woke up a few mornings ago and the tune was stuck in my head. No idea why! I'm 48 years old and it must have just been swimming in my subconscious until something I don't recall triggered it.

Anyway... I tried to track down the song, but had no idea of the name; certainly didn't connect it to Japan.

    Finally a friend identified it!

  • Lol did she just fart at 1:34

  • uma linda cancao de um povo que tenho profunda admiracao .

  • I've loved this song since I was a kid, and that's been about 40 years ago. Can anyone give me a good synopsis of what's its about? All Ive heard over the years is that no one knows what it means and Im sure that's not true. So can someone help me out & translate?

  • @kingbrotherman There was an English version of it.

  • I don't know what I just watched, but I liked it! :D :3

  • theyre like little pokemon people you have to collect them all

  • @LEONIAPOTTER96310 Why do we get naseous when we see the old cocker with pores on his nose larger than the Grand Canyon, bad breath, stooped shoulders, shuffling, teary eyes? Most often its because we know damn well its going to be our future if we live that long,or worse,if your kids kick you out and you're ugly, decrepit AND homeless. Don't get disgusted, try smiling at one poor slob inside that shell.

  • What a sad song....I like this better than the American version. Nakinagara aruku, hitoribotchi no yoru!!

  • This brought back so many happy memories of my time in Japan and particularly how beautiful the Spring is there

  • Thank you for this song. It is my favorite!! I also love this video.

  • I just wanted to cry.

  • the little girl @ 1:32 so beautiful, memory's of the beauty of man, where did that go??

  • @zzzippo55 An individual as yourself could do 2 things:Look around & ,yes, its always getting coarser, grubbier,or say "Just because the world allows what was once known to be social sabotage doesn't mean I have to jump into the same cesspool". Make a change, take a stand each person can love others since we all share a similar soul.Give time to old people, our children, teenagers especially. All we can expect is to clean up our little corner in this time & space we have.

  • @RasMajnouni, it is true what you say it is still sad the sickness of the american nation.

  • Beatiful video and very good song saludos desde México

  • @LEONIAPOTTER96310 if people can live at 70 and older ,,,, god loves them let them be happy :)
