Would love a cintiq. But it would proberbly be a waste of money, since I am nowhere near being a "real" "pro" artist, and only do it in my sparetime.. What's the name of the song btw?
you i was like you too, i would watch as many videos on youtube, and i would say to myself i want one soo bad. but when i finally got one. i said to myself good old fashion pen and paper is better.
at times i feel like selling it on ebay because of all the wires it comes with. but then i say this is the best tablet out there, other then the 21x. modbook is good but this is better. ya it was worth it
I'm too happy I'll go on a school for photoshop that give us access to a computer lab whit those kind of tablet :D but it's $15 000 for the inscription -_- better not fail my exams
Im looking into getting somthing along these lines. But I was wondering if they all project through a screen like this or if you have to work blind. If someone could please reply Id appreciate it.
Yeah, that was my first imression lol. I was looking on ebay and there are some for a decent process. I just dont wanna have to look at computer ad draw with the other hand and have no idea where my cursor is. So what ur sayin is some but not all project like this?
not all of them have a screen on them. but the ones that have screens on them tend to be high in price but it should go down as this technology becomes old.
recently, I've made some research into Cintiq and Intuos. If you want pen pressure, you will have to pick Intuos. It has 2048 levels of pen pressure whereas the Cintiq only have 1036. But, the Cintiq has your screen.
save the money for the 21 I think. It really depends on how you work. You can put the 12" on your lap for example and is somewhat portable so you can draw anywhere in your house even outside with a laptop. The 21" is much better for drawing overall but is not portable and has limited movement.
Thank you a lot. I want to save up for the 21, is it true it has more pressure sensibility? [I don't plan on taking it outside, paranoid, but I'm a bit upset that I can't set it on my lap, although I like the fact that it's bigger!]
I want this tablet SO SO SOOOO bad! I am an advid cartoonist and I HOPE that this will enhance my work. Right now *sigh* the BEST I can do is draw and ink my work and scan it and edit it with powerpoint...SOB! How PRIMITIVE!!!!!!
PROS:it is true that this thing is good is great for students , but it is over rated. nothing will ever beat good old fashion pen and paper. and to tell you the truth, the cintiq can be a handicap. CONS: a lot of the time i'm painting, i find myself looking for the undo botton on the paint-brush unconsciously, and the most irritating thing of all, is working on something for hours only to lose it if i forget to save it, or if the computer freezes. primitive is not always a bad thing.
Yeah, but you will save a LOT of money in the long run since you don't have to buy paint, ink, pencils, pens, and paper right? I just got SICK of being stuck with "PowerPoint"..it's SO SO ancient compared to what I've seen on here. I do agree with the computer freezing thing though. That sounds scary.
well to answer your question, the wacom cintiq 21 and the wacom cintq 20 are basically the same except the 21 is a bit bigger, with a few more programs ,and it use to have a bigger price tag lol. (i'm guessing they are now both $1,500 because people are not buying the wacom cintiq 21) and to answer your question about how it feels to draw on it. well it is like trying to draw on a mirror with a plastic pen tip. theres not a lot of friction. P.S none of them are portable like the adds says.
Thanks for answering those questions! I went and downloaded the work instructions for the 12X today just to get a head start on operating it. There's no stores around here that have these on display. I doubt that circuit city or that Best Buy has them LOL! These are PROFESSIONAL quality products and my cartooning business will start to take off once I get one of these! Gotta LOT of overtime to work to save up for it. Hopefully I can afford it by March 2009

This would be great if I had the money I would buy it... but im poor and couldnt even afford most of Watcoms high prices.
Basic tablets are not some high end engineering, but there are very few people making them so the prices are high...
BUT if your poor like me check this one out at the Monoprice web site

so can the cintiq function with such programs as photoshop CS? I mean if nothing else the pen can just be used as a mouse right?
majesano 3 years ago
ya the wacom cintiq comes with photoshop. an yes the pen can be just used as a mouse. i think it is better then a mouse.
movinon20 3 years ago
Which Photoshop? CS4? I have it but, I have a Bamboo. <_<
What is the difference between the Intuos and the Cinti? I know they differ in the money but I don't know exactly the reason...<__< Thanks.
