Hey, I was actually looking at putting my 4.3l v6 into my '90 runner. Its good to see that someone has done it. So was it worth it? My 3L sr5 engine is definitely gutless and at 370, 000 km its no surprise she leeks oil like a siv. So Im just curious if this switch over would be worth it or should I just fix up my 3L a bit?
you kidding? did you see the video? it looked to me like it was a stock gutless toy to me i did know it was a chev v6 until after i happened to look down and read it. no offence to the builder but i hope it was just that he was taking it easy. i did i v8 in mine and i really dont understand why for all the work and effort would you just do a slightly better motor then what you already heave. a 350 or 302 will go in just as easy and WAY more power. like going from a 20r to a 22r
And a 3.Slow is relatively gutless, it's a 3L... What do you expect, 500hp? Blame Toyota for putting reliability over power.
If you have one they're ok. Just put headers on b/c Toyo made a terrible crossover pipe.
They also went down on the head bolts in 90 and up. That's when the head gasket problems started. My 88-89 14mm bolt engine is nearly indestructible, but they are nowhere near as forgiving as a 22R.
thanks for the info man my 3.SLOW haha is pretty gutless and I got a 92 its ok for gettin around the city but its not much for the hills.But your tellin me I gotta put some Headers on.... but how much more power will this realy give me?

Stick with a replacement 3L and go with some 4:10 gears and you'll be fine, don't go destroying a Toyota by putting a POS GM engine in it.
