  • Awesome work! For those asking, it is Very rewarding!! I'm a homehealthcare ST and I love it! I've been in the schools, in clinics, and love home healthcare best! Very competitive salaries, outside of school systems. This therapist is great! I just got some good ideas!

  • I'm currently in university and I am studying to become a speech language pathologist! It looks like a really rewarding career!

  • I am in school for speech pathology and I am really looking forward to therapy and clinical experience because I enjoy watching the progress that patients make over time and I look forward to being responsible for therapy and its positive results!

  • Omg. This is it. This. Is. IT! I'm gonna study this in college. And that's that. I can soooo see myself doing this and loving every minute of it just like this wonderful lady in the video seems to be enjoying it. Wow. Gotta love children and their willingness to learn once the right motivation is put into place.

  • (continuation of last post) How can you not know that language is the most complex way of communication and that without having the more concrete domains mastered there is no way language can be acquired???

Thank you for being a great speech language pathologist!!!!

  • I really want to express the excitement I just experienced when I saw this video!!! I am so happy to see that there are Speech language pathologists that understand the importance of proprioceptive input in their therapy and how sensory stimulation can change a child's performance. I am a speech therapist myself, and I have fought so much with therapists that don't incorporate this in their practice and who tell me that their job is to help the child produce speech!!!

  • i think iv changed my mind, i wanted to be a teacher but now i think i wanna be a speech therapist :)

i had speech therapy for about 4/5 years or summet coz i have verbal and motor dyspraxia (check out my videos (: ) and it seems like an awesome job :)

  • What a cutie!! You are doing a great job. :)

  • He doesn't seem autistic at all. I bet you guys have really good therapist's working with him!

  • I hope that kid doesn't lean back because that will be a clunk on his head

  • Really liked the video!! Have you considered getting paid with an online course. You can post it for free on ToPointC and get paid when students take your course. Get paid for your video, audio, or text curriculum.

  • amazing session! child is very motivated(not even with food or toy reinforses) with game and communication and he really enjoys what he does.

  • I would be so happy if my 3.5 year old would follow these types of instructions. He seems like a very happy little man.

  • I'm studying to be a speech pathologist/therapist and hopefully I'll graduate in 2 years' time.

I've recently been to a therapy clinic and observed the speech therapists there. I can't begin to say how much I want to finish this course.

Ben's therapist seems really wonderful and I love how she works with him.

I'm wishing the best for him. :)

  • = ) wow i'm studying speech therapy in portugal ... i've seen sessions here and i've never seen such a big variety of material and such a cool way to teach the kids day to day vocab. congrats

  • I can see why this is a female dominated field.

  • This girl Is just amazing... and she makes an excellent job !! Who Is her? Amazing.-

  • There is no difference other than the name.

We are Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP).Although this is our official title, most people are not familiar with that name...

At times, we call ourselves speech therapists or speech language therapists.

  • what's the difference of a speech pathologist to a speech language therapist???

and oh yeah. happy holidays. :D

  • thank you for posting this, my son is diagnosised with autism and is beginning speech thearpy next week i'm showing him these videos on here, he is really enjoying watching your son

  • ahhh a video related to psychology? i wanna be a psychologist someday eh.

  • aww i want to be a speech therapist as well =D

  • aww.

  • poor kid...

  • Its not...he doesn't understand English. Imagine a child learning a second language, only he doesn't have a first language....where do you start.....you start with games that interest the child and basic imitation skills. This is speech therapy, not social skills class.

  • Congratulation, Alisha, I see you are very professional. I think, you give a great help for children and parents. God bless you.

  • Alisha I am a speech therapist too, and I must say your therapy style resembles mine. I would've loved to work with you. I like your style, and your enthusiasm. Nice example of speech therapy. Please post more videos. You inspire me. DESI

  • Thank you so much for the compliment! This was a really fun session and Ben is such a great kid.

  • Did not realize my husband was logged on when I posted my previous comment. Thank you so much for the compliment!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video. I think you are the kind of speech therapist I would like to have worked with! You make work fun! Keep sharing.

  • I think that the ppl who are concerned about head injuries are being a little overprotective. The risk here is minimal given the fact that he obviously has good neck stability. Jeez, you should see the what the kids do in phys ed!

In any case, I think that this is a great example of speech therapy. Simple activities, but a lot going on cognitively. There's lots of anticipation, prediction, and reciprocity. Oh, and it looks like tons of fun, too!

  • The therapist in this video has created a social network for therapist of all disciplines: SLP, OT and PT, in hopes to create a place to share and exchange ideas. Interested! Please join and start sharing today. ConnectedTherapy - Therapist Coming Together to Improve Care

  • hello

  • the head the head

  • that ride thing looks fun! lol. this would be good to play even with small kids even if they didn't have autism. it teaches listening, where parts of the body are and eye coordination.

  • This is a really cool - a useful game to play with people with communication issues, that can easily be adapted, I am very thankful that I found this video!! Thanks to Ben and his family for sharing this.

  • lol "toes". he's cute. very good. he's echoing a lot, but he's way good. :o

  • AWE!!! He is SO FREAKIN CUTE!! Post more videos! I love the way his little voice says all the words..."shoes!" LOL...SO CUTE!

  • she better be careful, he might hit his head like that

  • Thank you for your great video! I am an SLP in South Florida and love learning new techniques for autism.

  • I'm in school for this right now, and whenever I'm getting ready for a hard test, I watch this video and am reminded that this is exactly what I want to do with my life, 100%. Thank you for posting it! Do you have any more?

  • I have one from when he was younger, and I need to do another current one! I'll try to get to that when we get back from vacation in about 2 weeks :)

  • i definatley think thats what im going to do because i love working with little kids.

  • this is what i want to do when i grow up... does it pay well?

  • I honestly have no idea how much it pays in dollars, but to pull a boy with autism out of the fog and week by week teach him our language is an extremely rewarding job.

  • @lucigo

how the heck can you see if he's autistic? He seems normal to me!

  • It pays well, not as well asit should though. It takes a pretty big commitment to get a master degree. Google ASHA and look around their website. Speech Pathology is rated in the top 2 or 3 jobs for 'job satisfaction'.

  • @KCandyy I think you do it because you really like what you're doing. People who do this find it rewarding to help autistic children.

  • @KCandyy yes it pays very well, and the demand for SLP's are very high. However, many universities that offer the SLP graduate program are only accepting people on average with a 3.5 GPA (and some schools have GRE). Also this is a profession that is predominately female (95% to 5%) which I have no issues with, but if you are a male and meet preadmission guidelines etc., they'll be given first priority (but I wouldn't worry about that as much, I'm just giving u 411). Overall though, you'd love it

  • He is adorabale. And her work is heaven on earth!
