slide guitar and it's purifying power. The blues came from a bad time...poverty, hunger, dominance and slavery. no guitar sound, sounds better than when it's crying.
Slow blues like this is the mark of a master. Honestly it's not rocket science to play a 12 bar blues or a rock-blues and sound like Jimmy Page, but playing slow crying blues like this takes talent. Ry Cooder is one of the very best. His Hawaiian guitar is kind of different but also fantastic.

@jackjjj82 A parte l'augurio di morire, che, ti rammento, torna indietro come tutte le maledizioni...ma mi spieghi come cazzo fa uno a dire che un pezzo non gli piace se non lo ha ancora sentito?
@jackjjj82 I can understand you man. But obviously people on the internet feel the need to express their likes and dislikes. Water off a duck's back to me.
I have played and replayed this track countless numbers of times and enjoy it EVERY time. The blues and I guess this is a type of Mississipi blues .... is one of the foundations of the music which we call rock and roll and later stuff ..... Just ignore them ... for they know not what they hear!!!
To me, "Feelin Bad Blues" is a clear and loving homage to Johnson's "Love In Vain". The amazing tone and brilliant slide work speaks to my soul as maybe Green's "The Supernatural". Ry is a national treasure. I have almost all of his recorded output and never tire of hearing any of it, but especially this track. Peace & love.
Had the pleasure of seeing/hearing Ry play in concert at Carnegie Mellon University Skibo Hall in 1970. He is one of the best. Rolling Stone Magazine rates him at number 8 in the top 100 greatest guitarists of all times. greenegoddess13
So underrated!! Ry cooder has such soul!! Everyone recognises the Trick bag & duel more than this track.....What a shame this track is hauntingly beautiful!!!
One of the best here ... sitting listening to this over and over again {{{ smiles }}} , one of very few spins I use to play in my car, to chill out anywhere I am, it works totally, an honour to listen too. thankyou Ry.
@mikeporter333 Actually it was Arlen Roth who learned Maccio how to play guitar and he also played a lot of the music that Maccio 'playbacks' in the movie. And Steve Vai plays both parts, rock and classical, at the end of the movie. But for me this piece of music from Ry Cooder is absolutely awesome! Beautifull...
@TheFastgixxer Hmmm, i got this info off the 'Arlen Roth' website:
Ralph and I became very close, and we had a ball. What a great student!! Of course, he only had to get good enough to 'fake" to the parts I played in the film.
This movie had a great soundtrack; too bad it was just a vehicle for that hack Ralph Macchio. Not only did Ry Cooder play most of the tunes, but Steve Vai also showed up for a great "Cuttin" Heads" session.
Sorry but many people who like composers and musicians know of Ry Cooder. I think I'm going to listen to a collection of his work tonight. Thanks for the great idea.
Some of the most beautiful guitar work ever recorded was done by Ry Cooder. The man can play with a mountain of soul and melody. This is one of his finest pieces.

Tonight, I had to delete her from my FB because she was posting about her new bf. I'm drinking whiskey and listening to this song. It just feels right. God bless Ry Cooder because that man knows the blues in a man's heart.
@adooradoor4you : soundtrack of "Crossroads" movie (1986) very good album . and i agree with you , the only thing i can say is "wow" each times i listen this tune :)
@adooradoor4you have you seen the movie cross roads ? because if you like this song you would likely like that movie alot and its part of the sound track and so is lot more of cooders stuff like this and the end is amazing ,,, oh and it appears on the disc ry cooder cross roads ,,, peace man
I just listened to this 10 times... there's more depth each time!!!!!
I've always kept an eye out for Ry.... but after watching a bunch of his collaborations here... he's right up there with David Gilmour as my two favorite guitarists of all time.
Thank you Ry.... thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's a million imitators and tryhards ive heard on here, but not 1 comes close to the Ry Cooder original. I wont presume to know where the sound comes from, i'm just a skinny white boy, but this is truly the sound of the Blues (capital B). Ive loved this song from the moment I heard it on "Crossroads" (the movie)
Amazing song indeed, although there seems to be a bit showboating from people here with the "nobody has heard of him but I have" stuff, from the amount of soundtracks, colaborations ect he has done he is hardly unheard of. Anyone really into blues would know he is the guitarist for the Captain Beefheart album Safe as milk for example. Anyway, total legend.
There are a few words to describe this tallent and the one i would use is brilliance, mr cooder you are the only person in the modern day that can bring the slide blues to life..
@cm8198 Let's see now Ry cooder on slide guitar,Vannesa mae on violin, yngwie mamsteen on lead cosy powell on drums Noddy holder on vocals or Ozzy who can we put on Bass? would'nt it be nice to put bands together?

Im 22, A metal guitar player and a guitar teacher. This type of guitar playing is THE PIVOTAL point of playing, coming from someone who for the longest time considered this type of music to be "overdone" and "outdated". It still carries with it the most important aspects of music. Tone, finesse, emotion, style. Anybody who can say this doesnt impress or inspire them can enjoy their beiber fever.
This is just what I was looking for.

7 people need to move to North Korea or Cuba. That way great music can be supressed from them.
