  • how did you put the picture in your username

  • If you want to know how to make a Mac OS X Live DVD, (using a mac)

copy/paste it, and watch it :)

    watch?v=71tflUQq5ws

  • Why was mac os x leopard so expensive?

  • I do appreciate this video... Nice one... thanks

  • does this work w/ 10.3 panther

  • How did you change it form .dmg to .iso?

  • Finally a new way! For some reson alle the other ways diddent work for me this time, nut yours did! Thanks alot bro!!!

  • Didn't work.. I have a powerbook 1.67ghz, and after I followed these instructions exactly, it said that it required the factory disc to install Leopard.

  • @SupaBananaMan Choose bundled software. Then find iMovie and make sure iMovie is the only one checked then install it. I don't have exact steps because I don't have that DVD.

  • @SupaBananaMan I suggest that you take the DVD that came with your computer, titled "Disk 1" and you can reinstall iMovie off of that. You do not have to reinstall Mac OS X.

  • Hi. I have followed your instructions exactly (twice), but still cannot access the installation from the external hard drive. It seems to have been copied correctly, and looks just like yours, but when I click on the "installation" icon, a window pops up saying that OSX cannot be installed from this volume and I should use the installation DVD. Any ideas on what might have gone wrong? Thanks!

  • @SuperMabe1 First, connect your external hard drive. Then, go into System Preferences. Under the System section, choose Startup Disk. Lastly, selected your partition with the Mac OS X Install DVD and push Restart.

  • @darreners Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work either. It still says that it can't install from this volume, and that I should use the original disk to install. If you have any other thoughts on how to fix this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again!

  • @SuperMabe1 The only other thing i can think of is that the version of Mac OS X that you are trying to install is not compatible with your Mac. Are you using the Install DVD's that came with another Mac? That could be the issue.

  • HEy man i'm having a problem with my Snow Leopard! I just downloaded and i'm trying to install it using my external hard drive but when i use disk utility and i try to select my image ( it is an .iso file ) i doesn't make me select it. I don't know why. PLease help me man !

I subscribed and already rated your video ! PLease help

  • Several other people are having the same issue. I will test it on my own external hard drive. It worked fine for me when I did it. I installed Snow Leopard onto my computer off of my external hard drive. I will try it again and see what happens. Make sure you follow all the steps correctly. If you do all the steps correctly, the last thing I could suggest, before I further trouble shoot the issue is to try leaving it as .dmg.

  • Read the other comments. I think someone having the same issue as you, solved the problem.

  • jjust drag it in

  • Hi bro i did, wht did u say but when i try to install macosx from my External Hard Drive its warning me! it says " The application "Install Mac OS X" cannot be used from this volume.

To install Mac OS X, please use the application provided on the Mac OS X installation disc." can u hep me???

  • Did you change the file from .dmg to .iso?

  • Actually i lost my original leopard dvd and i found it like .iso file from internet. so I did wht u say with .iso file but my computer showed me that mistake " The application "To install Mac OS X, please use the application provided on the Mac OS X installation disc." But whn I click .iso file then restart the mac for formatting, macosx install dvd from external hard driver start to work! but without iso file i cnt format my mac just with macosx install dvd from external hard driver.

  • Hey so i did this for snow leopard and now i want to format the hard drive, but my computer won't let me. It won't let me unmount the disc to erase it or just the partition

  • Try using Disk Utility to erase the drive and format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

  • nice vid

btw: Mac OS X is pronounced Mac O.S. 10 (ten), not "EX"

Thank you i was looking for this vid for a long time

  • will this work with snow leopard?

  • Yes.

  • having a backup OS is always very good, if your system fails, you can boot leopard from your external drive and get all of your files back...

  • jeesus christ... this kids smart... his balls haven't even dropped and he's already pwning xD

  • hahah ... lol

  • i was thinking if i download the iso for gta 4 and then do this and unstead of using the dmg for mac osx and replace it with the gta4 and then go to the vista side of my mac would it work?? will vista recognize it?

  • There is know GTA 4 for mac, it is only for PC. You cannot run the GTA 4 PC version on mac without Boot Camp or other software like that, unless you somehow convert the game. I know it is possible to convert games, but I do not know how. If you have the PC version of GTA, you can't just change it from .iso to .dmg to run it on mac.

  • yeah i know about that but i am going to do the same thing here and then take the the burnt iso on a external hardrive and then i am going to use those to install it on my pc side of my mac

  • there is a patched version of GTA 4 for mac

  • Do you know where I can download it from? I saw some YouTube videos on it, but none of them were any good.

  • download what?

  • The patched version of GTA 4 for Mac.

  • fuck

  • I have a question. For example, if I have an external hard disk (that is plugged into my laptop running Windows Vista), could I install and then boot up Mac OS X Leopard/Tiger without damaging my Windows Vista files?

  • That is possible, but it is illegal. I don't suggest doing it because there are chances of your computer crashing causing you to lose all your data. Unfortunately, I can't support, I can tell you that I have seen videos on YouTube that tell show you how to do that. You can search it and easily find the answer to your question. But once again, I do not suggest it at all. Be sure to check out the company Psystar. The sell PC's with Leopard installed on them.

  • Well... According to Apple's copy-right laws, you can't install Mac OS X on PCs.... So either way it will be illegal lol =P Anyways, thank you for your reply and for helping me understand more about it =D

  • Apple attempted to sue Systar. In the end, the court said that Mac's run Windows, why can't PC's run OS?

  • no psystar losing the case and they also filed for bankruptcy

  • i dont think there are any dual layer cd's.... but there are dual layer dvd's...... you can get them in one "office store"

like office depot, staples, etc... just make sure they say " dual layer..... or 8GB the price is like 20 for 15 dvd's.......

    please help me with this.........

    thanks... bro... bye

  • yo ..... can u make a video that shows how to burn the ISO u make or the DMG in to a bootable dual layer disk???

    thanks little dude...... u rock

  • Unfortunately, I do not have any dual layer disks. Otherwise, I would love to have made a video. Do you know where I can purchase a dual layer CD? It has to be about 8GB.

  • I have a question of a different topic, but it still concerns mac computers. How can I get the "water- drop- effect" after a mouse click on a Mac computer?

  • That effect comes with the program iShowU HD. If you search iShowU HD in my videos, you will find a video about iShowU HD. Sorry that I can't paste a link to it. YouTube doesn't allow links in comments.

  • Ok. Thnx.

  • Thank you so much for this video!! I have been looking for how to do this for at least a year. Without you I would be stuck in a corner, clueless on how to do it. Thank you!!!!!

  • No problem. Thank you for subscribing.

  • im gonna try changing '.dmg' to '.iso'. lately i've been using .dmg and it never boots up for me, so hopefully this works. i will comment if it does !

  • That is exactly what I had to do and then it worked.

  • hey warren
