@mpatton4re Thanks man! I'm just playing through an amp emulator (an older Johnson J-Station - like the line 6 pods of today). I just have the usual distortion (obviously) and some compression, reverb and a little delay.... I run it directly into a digital recorder.
@SandpiperN121PP When you're telling someone who is obviously a seasoned professional at something to "get the basics down," it sounds a bit condescending. The "basics" of playing guitar would be learning major/minor chords, strumming patterns, and maybe the Pentatonic Scale. Just because he doesn't emulate someone's personal style perfectly, doesn't mean he needs to learn the basics. Maybe he's just trying to show his own personal voice.
