Amidst all of this argument I stand by my conclusion that the blame should be equally placed on both parties: the women in the videos chose to degrade themselves, but the guys shouldn't have ever been encouraging it. Yes, we ARE, unequivically goddesses. If you can't see or recognize it, them perhaps you do not have the 'eyes to see'. It's okay, because more and more of our men are acknowledging and embracing it. You should really look into this, you will find some really great AFrican men who help to set this whole thing off. They teamed up with us. I'm so proud of our guys who are wise and strong enough to handle the truth. For they have the 'Eye to see". I plan to make a film one day about them. Peace.

And the sad part is, I totally agree with you. As a woman, I feel strongly about women's rights and I'm willing to stand up for them. But then you have women like this, who make it hard for people like me to help them. Until we learn to respect ourselves, how can we expect others to do so. That's not the way it should be (two wrongs don't make a right), but it's the messed up world we live in.

I am SO sick of people complaining about exploitation of women in music and videos! These women in videos who shake their asses and bare all CHOOSE to do so. Society and the artists DO NOT force these grown ass adult females to do this. Why is it that some females go to college and get a REAL 9 to 5 job while others become video hoes? Choice. I agree. Even though I hate almost all of mainstream rap, it's unfair to say that it degrades women because the hoes in those videos made their own decision to degrade themselves. If we really want to discuss any "exploitation of women" in any regard, let's discuss the illegal international prostitution rings where girls are literally forced to do things. THATS what you'd call exploitation of women, not some lame blingy ding rap videos. Sure the media promotes sex but promotion is not force.

Just think when those records sell, they aren't just selling entertainment their selling ideas, and strategies and hopes of sex and 'hardons' Just think your daughter(s) are going to be targeted one day for this crap being so embraced and admired and desired. I know that if I do ever have a daughter that she will eventually be tempted with the fantasy lifestyles of rap video girls or any similar lifestyle. It's understandable, but I'd love her so much that she'd already feel embraced, admired, desired by me and her family and friends. I'd raise her so that she has the sense to know that she doesn't need to strip down to be admired by some sex-obsessed losers she doesn't know.

It's already difficult enough without greedy power exec. laughing it up all the way to the bank. When you do have daughters/sons STAY IN THEIR LIVES. The competition is numerous. These women are working, they want to EARN a living. They have to make the rent and buy food for their families. The VID Exec. uses this opportunity to cut down the competition by requesting they show more flesh and shake MORE BUTT. They ARE being expoited just the the brothers who play thugs, rapist, etc. for whitey in his movies. THEY ARE MAKING RENT AND FEEDING THEIR FAMILIES. There is no difference except the record labels want to sell record & he need butts.

I would like to see the industry change. That way the women who chose acting/dancing/entert. as their profession they can keep their tenure (years of experience). Like regular paying jobs, we choose a profession but we have no control of where the industry or corporation we work for take us. It could move in undesire directions. Then a career change is in order. I hate the direction entertainment has gone, sex, drugs, alcohol. Gangster Rap & the bad hip hop will die, & women can work wth pride.

Perhaps these women should be mechanics, electricians, or garbagewomen. No, they don't want the hard work, but they go where the money and stars are. As much as you would like to see the industry change, it will not. This society has gone too far and is too permissive. As long as skin sells and consumers buy it, they will continue to make it. Women will continue to make themselves available for these kinds of things.

Here's another way of looking at it.
Women are being used by corporate America (specifically the recording industry) to exploit the male craving for psycho-sexual stimulii, in order to boost sales.
When I'm sexually aroused by an image, who's really exploiting whom?
Am I exploiting the woman that I'm viewing? That would presume that being sexually aroused by an image is somehow beneficial to me. But one could argue that this is not correct.

There is much wrong in our societies, but where do you begin if this is the path an individual chooses? God gave man free will to make their choice. All to often women have to use their asset of a beautiful body to feed their family, or try and escape to a better life.
