@Gabriel7910 Usually just a half of one of those bags at a time. It usually makes 4-6 cups depending how much water you put in. Sometimes I make the whole bag and I freeze the rest in ziplock bags to have later for easy prep or for the road..most of the time the fridge is good enough, I try to eat it pretty quickly in a few meals over a few days.
@ThisisGoodMusic1 I got those items at a place called Fresh And Easy, a growing grocery chain, they are smaller, carry less items (the easy part) and don't have as much processed crap as the super-stores. But you can usually find these at any major food supplier- just watch out for additives like salt and such. As for carbs, I didnt include it in this vid but couscous are a great choice, fast and far easier to make than rice or quinoa..5 mins to 15-20.
@lucky9420021 The grub wont go bad, if you eat it within a week- hell even beyond that. Your refrigerator will take care of it. You cooked it, so its good for a while. You put the small amount of time to cook it up, so use it! Your body will thank you by showing new, hard-earned muscle and some new cuts. Plus, the canned chicken or turkey was never raw, but cooked..rule? Cook it? Eat it.
Thanks Andy. Yep, two biggies. Save time, cash and get results from a clean intake of key nutrients. Stay away from processed foods if you can. A tip- try couscous instead of quinoa, it has just as much protein and it takes less time to make..(no boiling required)
First, let me say how much I'm loving the tips! Easy, practical, straightforward, and totally helpful and realistic.
Now for my question...do you have any recommendations regarding ingredient ratios here? Are you doing a cup of grain, a can of chicken (small can/large can?) and a can of beans? Since the amounts will affect nutrition ratios, I assume you have a preference one way or the other.
Hey there thanks for the question! The ratios for me are usually a whole bag of rice or quinoa, then 3 large cans of meat, sometimes I cook a pound of turkey meat or lean red meat- followed with the black beans.. I figure if Im going to put time in to cook at all, I want it to last a few days. The bulk of this mix will obviously be the carb source. But since quinoa is high in protein you can sort of skimp on that for this recipe if you like.
