I thought I needed a special screw (T6 I think) to open my HDD, once I saw this video (I knew I had the same screw driver and I opened up my 20 GB HDD, now I get to install this 320 GB WD HDD :)
thank god for broke people i didnt want to buy a torx screwdriver just to open this hdd why dont they just use a universal screw system on everything there's no need for all these different screws fuuuuuuuck thanks alot for the vid homey
Thanks a lot for this video. I'm replacing my old 20GB (yeah, after all this time) Halo 3 Hard Disk for a 250GB one but I really don't wanna lose the orange accents nor the Halo 3 logo.
@Garthgoyle HAHA, I'm in the same boat bro lol. But im only replacing it with a 60 gig. Do u you how u would transfer all the stuff on the original HD to the new one?
um actually my bad false alarm i didnt plug it in all the way so its not fixed yet :( but ur video did help tho thx man ive subcribed to u later man ..
@spartanx just small precision screwdrivers. Make sure you do NOT shred the screws. Push on it VERY hard and turn slowly. Let me know on your progress...
@TheUnixCube explain "spin up" if you mean if it started running, and hearing sounds that it sounds like its running, then yes, the problem is mostly likely a hardware problem inside the actual hard drive, but i dont got any soldering materials so im going to have to get someone else to try n fix it
The careful and silent filming and hand gestures are a million times more understandable than a broken voice through a mic. Fantastic upload thank you.
no esd strap :O

moving a hard drive on carpet is not safe for the hard drive. You can damage it by producing static electricity.

So if I do this can I just put the drive right into an xbox 360 slim since you can put a 2.5" drive into a 360 slim?
cowsrock94 2 months ago
@cowsrock94 yes, you can, it will work, but you must be careful. It may ban you if it doesn't recognize it. Read up on it a little more first.

IIxSubmarinex 6 months ago

equate5 7 months ago
@equate5 yes, but when you turn it, you must make sure you press DOWN on it so it doesn't strip/shred the screw.

2dittoz 11 months ago
@2dittoz You must start by unscrewing the outside layers. Make sure you DON'T shred the screws. BE CAREFUL!

In a earlier comment you replied saying only 20g and 250gb works. I have a 60gb, may you explain why it wont?

Can u use a 1TB hard drive and put in replace for that
huggi2 1 year ago
@huggi2 I haven't tried... but you will need to get a SATA HD... I think 20gb and 250gb are the only ones that will work.
TheUnixCube 1 year ago
@TheUnixCube what kind of hard drive is this again ?
