When he came to the past, he told the story of how everyone but him and Gohan died. Gohan was practically his family, and he was the reason Trunks managed to transform.

But seeing him as a young boy, he barely spoke to him. Goku didn't even acknowledge the fact his own son survives the onslaught.. no one congratulates Gohan or anything lol
