Besides that his death left the hearts of millions of Afghans empty and without him there is no joy in Afghanistan and no joy in being Afghan. Ahmad Zahir was and still is the pride of our nation. He was the one. 30 years after his death, he is still the unique one. I remember the day that he died. I brought the news to the house. My older brother who was a religious person and not a fan of him, head tears in his eyes. Every one found something in his songs: love, joy, pain, sarrow. He was the image of his generation and the generations after.
