@tomtheflutist This isn't "h4x", it's a glitch which means programming error which the game programmers did not foresee. You should learn what "h4x" is before you comment stupidly.

This glitch is doable. In fact, using backward long jumps, you can beat the game with just the key to the upper floor, and however many stars it took to get it. (The clock room and the stairs; as you just saw, can be bypassed with BLJs.)

lol nice. me and my friend when we were little watched the screen for about ten minutes just running. we left the n64 controller with the joystick up on the carpet and let it run like all night. we were pissed when we could just jump rite down xD and its not that hard to get 70 stars. (says the kid who plays his n64 all day) (before school started) in one night and like half a day i got like 50 stars without really trying. ive restarted so many times i like just know what to do.

Y'know, you can do this through the door prior to that one. I've done it. Completed the game with 33 stars. It is possible to complete the game with 0... though I'm not sure if it can be done on a console.

just today i did it with 16 stars. thats the fewest possible stars u can do it with. u need to do this stair cheat, and the "mips Cheat". its where u put that little bunny through a door in order to get through doors without certain numbers of stars. look it up, its pretty cool.
