Thoughts on those J99A pickups? They definitely sound great in this video... Just got a good deal on a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass today that played exceptionally well for a Squier. Looking to upgrade the stock pickups and have always been a fan of Carvin, so thinkin about picking up a pair of those J99A's at some point.  So let me know what you think of them! Oh, and absolutely phenomenal playing... I aspire to be that good someday...

@ct6mblack Thanks a lot! These pcikups are great! You should first check to see if they will fit into your Squire for these pickups are the same length. You might have to get the Squire's neck pickup route modified to fit the Carvin pickup.

@0814NIK Thanks a lot! I've been fortunate to own some great basses over the years.  Many of them were very nice. Having said that, this SB5000 is a special animal! The feel, tone and playability are right up there with most Jazz type bass costing 3 times the amount IMHO.

Most bassists who play funk (slap, specifically) usually just show off technically, but your playing is very tasteful and in-the-pocket. You use your talent to actually produce a SONG...who would've thought? :-D It's so nice to hear something that's not simply a "chops fest". Nice grooves, man!

That bass guitar sounds awesome. I like how you dialed in the EQ. It has a Wayman Tisdale sound when you were soloing up top. I have a low-end Yamaha RBX bass guitar so that tone is not accessible for me.

@AAI6718 Thanks! The EQ had just about 10% Bass Boost, everything else was flat. I backed off the neck pickup on the higher groove just a little. After having this bass for over a year, I still am AMAZED at the tone of it!!!

@wakomaniac45 Yeah, this thing smokes! I didn't find that the Boss degraded the tone of the bass. With the built loop going, the bass tones was able to punch right through!

No, nothing customized. Just ash body, maple neck and fingerboard. It's a very standard SB5000.
