@need2speed94 They never got 350's. The TPI were 305's, and yes they were garbage. They got AWESOME gas mileage, some 3rd gen Camaro's got 44 MPG, but as far as racing and speed, they sucked. Thats why I pulled the TPI out and put in a cammed out 74' Chevelle engine in. Now it's a rocket.

not if u take a old school muncie 4 speed n send it in an have the gears cut down then you can leave with the clutch an jus bang the gears back and forth an yes u send it in to have the gears cut down u can shift without using the clutch thats where they got the idea for the linko transmition when you have the gears cut down it allows you to shift without the clutch without breaking the gears

@clayroe9 no actually that is NOT where they got the idea of a lenco, a LENCO trans has clutch packs for each gear just like a TH350 or TH400 but employs a clutch for your initial run gear. when your in first all other gear/clutch packs are locked out, when shifting to second the lever engages a clutch section to lock out the previous set of planetaries. -1st, 3rd, and 4th are then locked out. in all seriousness a lenco in more of a manually operated automatic trans than a clutchless manual.

For instance.........I wouldn't of wanted one in my 'ol '63 Chevy II gasser with a high revving 327. It just wouldn't be the same without the Saginaw and the clutch play. i got a 355 chevy. all forged bottom end. .125cc dome pistons. Running about 13:1 with my AFR elimantor 215cc heads, 64cc. 1050 holley carb. .650 lift lunati cam. 4.11 gears 700r4 trans. My chevelle ran 11.2 all motor. And ran a 10.3 at 149 mph on nitrous.
