Brilliant song and fantastic lyrics. If anyone can tell me what they (the lyrics) mean I'd be very grateful as I've been trying to decode them for over 30 years on and off and although I have a pretty good idea of their meaning a definitive translation would be most welcome.
@marksoutof10 You can't be serious? This song not only is a masterpiece musically but the lyrics are stupendous and every bit as good as the most difficult of cryptic crosswords! If you can tell me what they mean I would bow to you and be ever so grateful!
@DeanFirefly Sorry, but athough I like to think my ears can appreciate a good tune (no heavy metal or rap in my collection), but this song just does not excite me. No offence to those who DO like it (I'm not a cheap troll like that), but I've studied chart placings in depth, and this title I found rather untypical of the type of record that tends to sell well in the singles listings. As for the lyrics, I'll look them up and then offer my opinion.
@marksoutof10 Couldn't agree with you more about the song being untypical but I view the fact that it charted at all as a measure of its brilliance. You are of course entitled to like or dislike any musical offering, the world would be a very dull place if we all agreed on everything. I look forward to hearing whether you manage to decypher the lyrics though. Perhaps when you have your findings we can compare notes?
