great idea but the choice of 1/8" acrylic is not good. over time that 1/8" will never hold up. 1/4" is the thinnest you should use.

Most apartments come with one now too.

Cyanolacrylate - aka SuperGlue or Krazy Glue. Krazy Glue has a bottle with brush that's purple to show where it's been applied, the purple goes clear in a while when it dries. Much better bond and once in place it's stuck and no acetic acid smell from the silicone.

With acrylic cement, it would have had a stronger bond, would have looked better, and there would have been no mess to clean up with the razor blade.

The edges should also be sanded with a fine grit sandpaper before torching, for the "professional look."
