@knightguyll Urban Meyer is a decent coach at a school in which Spurrier built. The recruiting pretty much does it for itself at florida. Bobby built FSU from nothing and made it what it is today. Bobby aint no joke, he is one of the best coaches ever period. Oh and fuck florida!

FSU 14 straight top 5 finishes,is one of the most overrated acheivements ever.The majority of those were spent in a basketball conference,that fsu joined after running from the sec.Miami did the same running to the big east.Pretty easy to have great records when you only have to seriously gameplan 2 games a year.Florida had to get through really good teams like tennessee,auburn,alabama,before they even played fsu.Fsu went through those powerhouses like maryland,wake forest,and duke.Pathetic

personally i loved gettin fired up before a game, but thats not the only way to do it. lou holtz said it best, when he talked bout how he was playin ball in college and he got so fired up from his coach's speech before the game and then the first play he got lit up on a hit and all of that fire he just built up inside him before the game was gone just like that... sometimes its more about control and focus rather than aggression

Im a Canes fan and I respect Bobby. As much as I cant stand the seminoles, Bobby has always been a class act. When the Canes beat FSU, he gives credit, when they win he doesnt give too much to his team. Hes a real person with the most humble attitude Ive ever seen from any coach.

People need to understand that this is Bobby Bowden's personality. He is a very relaxed, calm person. He has always coached in a calm, controlled style. He does not have a fiery personality like Woody Hayes. Bobby Bowden is the same today, as he was 30 years ago. Joe Paterno has the same calm personality too. My point is, is that everyone has different styles.

i love Bowden and the Seminole history, but i think the main reason the program dropped was that Bobby defended his son too much.. his son was not a great coordinator he didnt recruit well and slowly it showed...i think Bowden has only 1 year left
This is really sad! Bowden was a great coach, but my 9 year old son's tackle football coach has more passion. As an FSU fan I am torn up to see a great coach melt away in the last 7. Jimbo is the only major coach there that does not have 'head coach' in his title. Jimbo can not lead when other coaches can undermine him. I remember watching the pregame speech before the 1993 Miami game - one of the bigger games FSU had ever been in at the time - and it was pretty much just like this.

I think there are massive problems with the program and Bowden should be out ASAP, but this isn't near the top of the list of reasons.
I don't think Jimbo is the answer ..I think FSU needs a coach from the NFL. I think if Jimbo does take over though that he finds a great Defensive Coordinator because now Mickey has fallen off a lot.
sorry guys, but the pre-game speeches have always been like this at FSU with coach bowden...even in the mid and late 90s. coach always said if you need somebody else to get you excited or motivated for a game then you don't belong on the team. and he was right. if you practiced and are prepared, then all you need are some reminders, which is what coach is doing in this video...and has ALWAYS done. halftime is when the speeches get kicked up a notch.
I am a Noles Fan and was at school there in the late 90's when we dominated. There is no way we would won all those games with AWFUL speeches like this. That was F'ing terrible. I do hope 2009 is his last year. Bring on Jimbo!!

Well seeing how your program is coming under fire from the NCAA, your ole Coach Bowden will be about 20 more wins below Paterno. And I'm not taking away anything that Bowden did in the past. He WAS a great coach and he WAS a great motivator, and FSU WAS a great football program 10 years ago. But Bowden obviously can't get the job done anymore, you can't argue with that.

@CarlBratonananaluski Bowden's 15 year rein began in 1987 if I recall. That year FSU lost the first 2 but eventually finished #2 in the nation behind Miami. This was several years before they joined the ACC July 1991; did not start playing an ACC schedule until 1992 & 1993, I'd have to look back to make sure. Also, Clemson, Wake, Virginia and North Carolina were finishing in the top 25 in the 90s. Plus, Bowden beat up on the Gators regularly during late 80s-90s. FSU began to drop off in 2001.

I agree. I didn't even watch the game on Sat cause I knew we were gonna lose that one. There was a small glimmer of hope but deep down I knew FSU would have to get really lucky. Hopefully the rebuilding is coming to a close and we'll have the good games of the 90's. At least we were both ranked when we played though. Hopefully FSU will get back to where they were and a win will actually mean something for you.

When the NCAA requires FSU to vacate wins from the last year or two ('06 and/or '07) for using ineligible players, Bowden will be well behind JoePa. That race will effectively end once the probation is announced in January or early February.
unfortunately, Bobby has said that he's prepared if push comes to shove to use wins that he accumulated while serving at some small school in Georgia's Athletic Director. Clearly, this record means more to Bobby than it does to JoePa. If it means more to Coach Paterno, he hides it well.

Yes, Bowden WAS a great coach, and I'm not wanting him to go back in time and never ever have been our coach..... just to step down from the position now. He doesn't have the desire or the mentality to be a good coach anymore.

There is always going to be the ebb and flow of college football the and ups and downs. No team stays on top forever. But until you can match Coach Bowden's record of being in the top 5 in the nation for 14 years in a row .. keep your mouth shut!

@CarlBratonananaluski Bowden's 15 year rein began in 1987 if I recall. That year FSU lost the first 2 but eventually finished #2 in the nation behind Miami. This was several years before they joined the ACC July 1991; did not start playing an ACC schedule until 1992 & 1993, I'd have to look back to make sure. Also, Clemson, Wake, Virginia and North Carolina were finishing in the top 25 in the 90s. Plus, Bowden beat up on the Gators regularly during late 80s-90s. FSU began to drop off in 2001.

As a Gator fan I used to love the Florda/Florida State rivalry. But with these last five years of Florida State "suckitude" its not fun anymore. Its like we're picking on the crippled kid at school.
And Bowden just waddling around the locker room rambling on is just sad. Makes you wonder when he's gonna say, "Now you play a good game while I go clip coupons and watch my stories......"

I agree. I didn't even watch the game on Sat cause I knew we were gonna lose that one. There was a small glimmer of hope but deep down I knew FSU would have to get really lucky. Hopefully the rebuilding is coming to a close and we'll have the good games of the 90's. At least we were both ranked when we played though. Hopefully FSU will get back to where they were and a win will actually mean something for you.

But please dont insult me, I go to FSU because of its Anthropology program and political science program
Plenty of people come here because they feel its a better atmosphere and for specific programs, and dont get me wrong we have alot of UF rejects but they're all retarted anyways. Im just saying more than 50% of us really do want to be here

When the NCAA requires FSU to vacate wins from the last year or two ('06 and/or '07) for using ineligible players, Bowden will be well behind JoePa. That race will effectively end once the probation is announced in January or early February.

unfortunately, Bobby has said that he's prepared if push comes to shove to use wins that he accumulated while serving at some small school in Georgia's Athletic Director. Clearly, this record means more to Bobby than it does to JoePa. If it means more to Coach Paterno, he hides it well.

I have seen plenty of these type of videos... he was not nor will he be the only coach to use notes. WTF? I am getting really sick of the bashing he is taking. Bobby Bowden is a legend and has coaches around him who are supposed to be skilled. I cannot wait to see what excuses the hatchet wielders have when he is gone and the team suffers a fate like Michigan/Notre Dame.
