  • very sweet. He's dreaming. I hope it was a good dream. =)

  • my ridgeback girl also make this noise when she is dreaming :)

  • look ate the doog at moment 0.39 to 0.41 damn that dog has a psyco way to wakeup....

    xD

  • I love this! My half ridgeback/half boxer is lying next to me & she has been snoring up a storm!

  • Puppy dreams....chasing rabbits perhaps???

  • i have a ridgeback and he does the same thing, so cute

  • My Rhodesian does that same thing all the time! He also burps...loud!

  • Dogs experience REM sleep just like humans, waking them up disrupts this. It is a fact that without sleep a human being will die, Im not saying your killing your dog, but I think mental health could be a concern.

  • @CondemnedPatriot - WTF seriously? The most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. So if we are camping and something comes rummaging through the camp don't wake the dog? I don't think so.

  • He looks just like my dog (leo) he is also a rhodesian ridgeback!!!!

  • he's sweet! my ridgeback makes the same 'WHOOP WHOOP' barks in her sleep :)

  • when our lab does this we call them puppy-mares

  • Mine does that too he also moans and groans if you try and pet him when he's sleeping.

  • So cute. My ridgeback makes the same kind of noises when he dreams.

  • Have you ever heard them howl like a wolf? Mine does that, and it actually brings the wolves and coyotes by our house sometimes! :S LOL

  • @das1418 Mine does it as soon as it gets dark outside and someone's ringing the doorbell. I mean if it weren't my dog I'd probably be freaked out by this noise. It's really somewhat impressive howling!

  • Haha I have a ridgeback mixe with a rat terrier and it does the same thing... its so adorable!

  • Did you get him as a puppy? If so were? I'm hoping to get another soon, but as a puppy, I got Molly when she was two, so never could teach her much, still she's the best dog I have ever had, and now's how to handle cattle.

  • that is so cute lol

  • My Rhodesian used to do this all the time!!

  • does he sleep in his crate with door closed all night ok?

  • Mine does that to, even to the point where his legs start twichting as if he's having a dream that he's chasing some rabbit.

  • he was dreaming of chaseing lions lolz

  • @mmmmmr96 lol

  • @mmmmmr96 best one!

  • awe, my rhodesian ridgeback does that too!! so cute.

  • I have two RRB brothers who are 16 months old. They get along perfectly and all the time too. Wonderful conduct they interact sharing playing working as a team, and can body slam while airborne.

I waited three years to find Two so they would always have playmate and never really fight like two dogs can sometimes over females or food etc.

As for food its "Fromms' dog food for my buddies, no gas no throwing up and quality that started in 1904. Not part of any sales or a company I just care,

  • Our Ridgy does that too! RR's have so many quirks :)

  • wup wup :D

  • My old Ridgeback used to twich and bark in her sleep :D

  • funny my old ridgeback did that

  • I have a rodasian too, he does it all the time. Wen he was a pup he slept in a bench too. If he sees the bench now he wants in, but he too big now haha

  • no shit, why the poor dog has a home in an apartment that stupid car ...?? horror

  • haha...my Rhody does that all the time! He dreams constantly and kicks his legs.

  • my jack russle does that and yesterday he fell off the bed and woke me up at 4 in the morning. i want a rhodesian soo bad

  • i have a 4 month old ridgeback and he does the same thing its hillarious because occasionally he kicks his legs

  • yeah its dreaming my dog dose it loads

  • Mine is doing too!

    I think he's dreamin!

  • lol that's cute. i have half ridgeback... and half rottiewieler. demarko hitted my husband's nose lol

  • Wow, that seems like a neat combo!!! Would love to see a pic! :)

  • Funny, I have a Rhodesian and he does the same thing, he kicks his legs too.

  • hahaaa... my dog doing too :D

  • haha my RR does that too

  • i have a black lab that does the same thing, so does my chihuahua

i think it's like talking in your sleep for dogs

  • Keira my rhodesian ridgeback does something like that and she sleep runs and sleep barks and she snores loudly

  • so does mine but he growls then barks and wakes up because he startled himself ;)

  • i have a ridegack and he does the same thing! always high pitched barks

  • My dogs are always low piched. They sound like your blowing bubbles when your face down in water. Its silly.

  • Mine too.

  • That is sooo cute.

  • I heard you shouldn't wake them when they are sleeping and seem like they are in hot pursuit of something but it was for health reasons. May similar to a human sleep walking.

  • I never herd of not waking them up... Do you remember the exact reason?? Like what would happen?

  • Never heard the reason why a person shouldn't wake a dog when he is twitching and barking and even growling etc. Never heard the reason why not to wake sleep walkers either but if for no other reason it's disruptive and they are in a different state then just sleeping I think. You hear all kinds of things though and someone even likened a dog twitching to something like a epileptic seizure in a person which I have to say I doubt as dogs wake right up and it seems like a dream more than anything.

  • haha, my ridgeback/schafer makes almost the same sounds when he's dreaming :D

  • hahaha i have a rhodesian ridgeback and he does that all the time, he also kicks his legs a lot its really funny.

  • Haha, cute. My dog does that all the time. =] She'll even sometimes growl in her sleep and kick, like she's running or something. Lol

  • I have a Ridgeback/Pit Bull and she makes those noises too. I'll have to get a vid of it.

  • Ridgeback/Pit Bull? Wow, never seen that mix before :p

  • Mine dosnt even like to go outside to potty if its raining! He dont like the water but will jump right in the tub for a bath....

  • Oryon is scared of thunderstorms and doesnt like going out in the rain either. He will go if it is just sprinkling out, but if it is doing more than that, he will hold it till it stops! Crazy dog.

  • Ummm, yea. A punisher. By far buddy. My dog is treated like gold. I didnt know you had to be beat to have a nightmare??? Wow.

  • Actually, I have taken classes/seminars in animal behavior, have worked with, and have owned dogs my whole life. My dog is not scared of waking up, he is used to it because he does it every day. If there was a stranger there that woke him up, yes he would be a little apprehensive. My dog has complete trust in me and I in him.

  • He was dreaming, i have one and she does the same thing!

  • RRs are so cute!......honestly all dogs are cute. they are amazing when they sleep and are not hard dogs to handle at all.

  • Does anybody elses RR hate the water, or is it just mine? 0_o

  • Mine doesnt really like baths or being chased with the hose on hot days, but I havent had the chance to take him to a lake or open waters. Theres no where like that where I live.

  • also have a RR... she is doing exactly the same, always makes me smile when I hear that ^^

  • I think he was having a dream...

My Yellow Labrador does the exact same thing... adorable huh?

  • our RR does the same wen shes dreaming...our other RR even turned on her back once and stayed like that for prob. 15 minutes!! Their funny animals!!

  • hihihi che amore...

  • nevermind. they are only 1k.

  • wow.. thats awesome!! i want an RR soooo bad!!!! i dont think my wife would be able to handle one tho. plus its a bit pricey around here, i think 4k a dog or something like that. ur lucky to have one!!!! are they a handfull? i bet they chew stuff up like rotties do when im not home!

  • I paid about 1K for mine. He isnt to much of a handful, just when he wants an over abundance of attention. He doesnt chew much either. He did have a thing for a while when he was a puppy with taking shoe laces out of shoes though. Not really chewing them, but running around the house with them like it is a victory for him to get them out of the shoes. It was pretty impressive though.

  • He is EXACTLY like my Ridgie Bailey! He makes silly noises in his sleep too and he tries to run!

  • I know, I love when he looks like he is running and his feet twitch like he is taking really little strides!!! Hahahahha

  • i want a ridgeback i hade a half ridgeback half boxer it was the best dog ever.had so much fun with my dog.

  • aw i want one

  • health probs on RR prob come from lack of bloodline..I love the breed and had joy of meeting a 100% line RR...OH MY GOD!!! big boy!...they seem well bred anywhere but rhodesia? I cant find a local breeder for 100% line..can anyonw help?

Oh..dogs dreaming is pent up energy sometimes..watch for that!

  • absolutely cute...gorgeous dog...

  • After scouring Dog Rescues I have found a RR, would I be crazy to adopt him?

Would much rather adopt an unwanted dog if I can.

  • You are not crazy at all. RR's are wonderful when trained right. Just dont let them get away with to much!!! Or the will think they can do it all the time. :) Kinda like mine.

  • he was dreaming about some german shepard booty!!! Grr I hate when im awaken from a beautiful dream.

  • nice he had some interesting dream probably

  • I heard a rumor that Ridgebacks tend to have many health problems. Is there any truth to this?

  • yea there some genetic mutation there prone to were the the ridge sometimes is foremed inside out and it connects to there septum prty much ther in and out of doctors every few weeks to chek on it.

  • my boxer does that all the time hes just having a bas dream

  • My rhodesian Becki does the same little dance :) but as a spoiled bed dog when she barks its not as bad as her twitching and kicking lol!

  • haha

my ridgeback does the exact same

i shall try and record him :)

  • Its so hard to not wake them up when you are trying to catch them doing somthing funny in their sleep because they are so attentive!!! Even when sleeping! Good luck! I would love to see it!

  • damnit i want a ridgeback!!!

  • They are the most wonderful dogs in the world!!!

  • haha. my ridgeback does the same too. we always thought she was having doggy nightmares :P

  • My dog dose the same thing

  • he's soooo cute!! my dog does that all the time :p

  • Dogs dream too so maybe he was talking to another dog in his dream its hard to say my JRT does that sometimes too. RRs are super beautiful I love them. 5 stars for cuteness and a beautiful dog.

  • I loved it - Our RR would do the same thing and move his paws like he was running in his sleep! We just had to put him down because of some bizarre thing happened where his intestines got twisted (not bloat) and 4 feet of his intestines died inside of him. We did surgery and he survived for 3 weeks! The Vet had no idea why?

  • i had a female RR named Kenya who had blood cancer and she hung in there for little over 2 years having quimiotherapy (not sure thats the way it spells in english). what a brave animal, she would refuse to die even though she was in serious pain. then one day we had to put her to sleep, a bloody tragedy. lucky us she left us couple of young RR to keep the legend on!!!

  • I am so sorry to hear that -- and I love the name Kenya! We do know that our RR did not have cancer (we had constant blood work done for a month) so we will probably never know what cause his intestines to twist and his death.

  • kenya is a cool name, i must agree. peace.

  • my dog has 5 tumors and can't walk anymore and beyond what i say my dad is still putting him to sleep tomorrow and i can't stop uhhh :/ crying...

  • thats tough mate, we have a half staffy/ridgeback and he's like my best friend and son at the same time. l hope you get through it ok

  • We lost our ridgeback at 6 years due to ovarian cancer. I know how it felt for me. Sorry to hear your news mate :(

  • I'm sorry Insuno. We just had our dog put to sleep also, everyone's heart is broken here. But time will eventually heal all wounds.

  • I am so sorry to hear that. It is great to know you did all you could though (with the chemo and all). Alot of dog owners arnt as wonderful as you. She was lucky to be a part of your family.

  • Too funny! My Ridgeback does the same thing when she's sleeping! Sometimes gets her feet going like she's running. Never got it on video though!

  • 5 stars!

  • LOL!! xD thats so funny xD

  • lol cute my rr done that when she was nly 4 weeks old lol. i remember when she first came out her cage she was scared of everyone and every bone in her body was shaking. lol anyway please watch my one.

  • please watch my channel /video on my tribute to my rhodesian ridgeback jez. please leave a comment on wat u think after u watch it.

  • My rr does the same, it's sooo funny. He's a rescue, only had him 6months.

  • My beagle does the same thing when he sleeps! It's so cute, i touch his feet and he starts to move his legs chasing after whatever it is he's dreaming about. Do you think maybe it's an instinct thing? Cause RR's were originally used for lion hunting? How cool is that?

  • HAhahahah!! My RR does that..my little RR really whups someone in his sleep...the girl snores like an old man...

  • Beautiful dogs aren't they? Mine sleeps very lightly but should not be disturbed in this state, he has no idea where he is. I crated mine too but he is 120 lbs now and won't fit, arrh! If you search for lilmisscarrot here you can see a couple of vids of him being stupid.

  • my 8 wk old rr does the same thing. i think hes chasing rabbits but he hasnt even seen one yet?? nice dog by the way, crate training is the way to go and they love them. its their own little den.

  • i have a rr but he is half staffy , best mate you could have. when he's asleep he move's his leg's as if he was running.

  • Hi! I have a RR and she also snores and makes this funny noises, oh, and she kicks as if she were running!! So hilarious!! I have to upload videos of her because i really really love Rasha (that is her name). Your RR is beautiful, but tell me something, i want to keep a male puppy next time she breeds but i am afraid the puppy will be peeing his territory all over my house. How did you manage to train yours? Thanks!

  • I just got him neutered at 17 weeks. Some vets dont like when you neuter that early, but mine had never even lifted his leg in the house!! He even squats when he goes outside!!! That and I started him off crate training too. Helped to potty train him right away!! He was potty trained in a matter of 2 days! :)

  • I have a 3 year old male not neutered. He looks and acts exactly as the dog in the video does.Got him at 12 weeks, took him outside to do his thing on a timely basis and had only one mess of each kind in over 2 1/2 years. Both within the first 2 days. The easiest potty training I have ever dealt with. He didn't lift a leg ....the one time he pee's in the house. He still squats as much to pee as it hikes.I just hope your dog doesn't get lazy and fat because you took his energy away.

  • A RR male should not normally pee in his own house unless he has no choice (it is already his domain and has his scent). Mine seemed to train himself as soon I got him home. He has not been neutered.

  • Oh no way! My male RR does the same thing when he gets into a deep sleep. The growling, whimpering, and sounds like he has the hiccups, lol! It must be an RR thing! ;)

  • my ridgie does the same thing! He's the worst snorer on the planet!

  • Just like my fella dreaming of his great big juicy sirloin steak.
