i fucking loved rita. possibly because i'm hugely attached to julie benz haha, but yea, i couldn't help but love rita so much. her death was horrible, and dexter obviously loved her, but i think that in the end, what he felt for lumen was so much more.
in a weird way, i kind of think that lumen is the love of his life. :/
@jarelynmonroe I totally get what you mean. I loved Dexter and Rita together, but I loved Dex/Lumen too. I don't understand all the fans that are like "NO I HATE LUMEN CUZ SHE REPLACED RITA!" ...I think they were both great pairs, but Dex/Rita was more of a comfortable love, while Dex/Lumen was more passionate and real.
This was an amazing coping mechanism. After the finale it made me all teary--- and that said the finale didn't feel quite true to Lumen for me either. Dexter and Lumen's scenes were really pretty and while they shed a light on Dexter inner pain... she just doesn't strike me as somebody who would leave just because she didn't have a dark passenger anymore and dexter did. That emotional bond she formed with Dexter and tusting him with the knowledge of her experimence went a lot deeper, imo.

I thought it was a bit out of character for Lumen to leave Dexter because the entire time she was going through this tragedy, Dexter was the only one she chose to trust. They have a unique bond. I think the reason she really left is because Jordan Chase manipulated her into thinking that she has to leave Dexter (remember the scene when Chase said she's changed and that the only reason Dexter and her are together is because they share a similar sadness).
@vagrantdream13 - I'm still hoping she'll come back in the future when she realizes that her experience with Dexter was what helped her change and why she become the person that she is and who she'll be. It's just probably the shock of the moment that she's finally accomplished her "rightful revenge." I don't think she stopped understanding Dexter's darkness just because she lost her. I think she's just transformed and she didn't know what to do with this transformation. She will be back...

Beautiful amazing vid. I'm really hoping the writers will realize how angry the fans will be for the way it was handle(the writing was just ugh) and bring her back. It happen with PB and Sara/Sarah. I get her reasons for leaving I just wish it was handled better. The way it was handled felt really rushed and not true to her character. I think I'm in the minority of not hating Lumen. It ended for me on the boat, after that they ruined a great character. 5 stars for the vid, great work!
beautiful...I too was slightly disappointed by the ending. I never would've thought in the end Lumen dumps Dexter! Here's hoping she comes back...because she will be alive out there somewhere...and maybe she'll realize that her love for Dexter goes beyond her need to avenge herself.
