  • It shows the real problen with commodore. Always design to obsolete goals. C16 did not include graphics sprites and have LESS memory.Instead of going to new more advanced products.Originaly the Amiga 1000 was not a commodore desing. The amiga 3000 did NOt include new graphics advances and AGA Chipset was a very small improvevent after 5 years of development.

ETC. In the end thats why it went out of bussines

  • There was also a game in which you have to climb a building, avoiding falling things. Does anyone know the name of that game?

  • Wow spec +3 has great music!Honestly don't knew that.

C16 sounds are awful, but graphics look kinda better than C64 in some aspect,I guess for the wider palette.

Anyway,C64 remains overall the best,in my opinion.

  • Thing id about the C 16 was it was the poorer relation to the C64. I had a C16 'cause my father was old skool, and didn't rate computers(of any sort). He had no interest in em. I'd have loved a C64, but was well chuffed to have a C16. Man, what could be done with 16K. U wouldn't even get a good porn pic now with that sort of memory. LOL

  • My first computer, paid $1500 for that and a tape recorder and a monitor..sales man took advantage of my ignorance I should have bought a c64..still loved my c16 but got a c64 a few years later...I was instantly hooked when I first made a little program and something apeared on the screen and I'm still hooked on programming computers.

  • Maybe it's because you started with C16. Who knows? Maybe with C64 you would be rather hooked with gaming and not programming :-)

  • Maybe, in that case I'm thankful to my old C16 !

  • I'm sure there is some true in this statement. I know what I'm talking about. I've also learnt how to code on less popular platform.

  • Nice reply ;) I'd kill to go back in time and make the effort to learn code.

  • @trophy242 Yeah exactly there was nothing wrong with the C16 if you wanted to learn how to program

  • $1500 is way too much because the C16 was sold for $99 when it came out and i doubt that you payed $1400 for a color screen and tape recorder.

  • How do you know what I paid when you dont even know when and where ? fool !all together I paid 10000 danish krroner, that is 10000/7.5. I know there were cheap offers like that in eastern europe the only place where commodore 16 and plus 4 had any success, because people are so poor there and after it flopped the only place it could be sould where these countries. So i bet ur probably from rumania or something right ?

  • "The Commodore 16 was a home computer made by Commodore with a 6502-compatible 8501 CPU, released in 1984. It was intended to be an entry-level computer to replace the VIC-20 and it often sold for 99 USD. The C16 was intended to compete with other sub-$100 computers from Timex Corporation, Mattel, and Texas Instruments (TI)" From Wikipedia.

  • That's actually larceny. I bet he lived off his commission from that for about a month.

  • I used to play text games on this system...the hardest one was atomic mission.....i also like strange oddessy

  • We had a cartridge with Atomic Mission, Strange Oddessy and another pirate one.

All I can remember from the pirate one was 'Say Yoho' and using a mongoose to kill a snake!

  • yeah i remember that one...you had to build a ship to sail to treasure island...

  • non ho capito bene

  • Il c64 è superiore al C16....di gran lunga...con tutto che il basic V2 sul C64 è più scarso :D

  • e bravo Ninuzzo.. hai scoperto l'acqua calda di pompa!

    hai capito cocorito?

    16 l'è picichin, nanoun!

  • Amazing what they could fit into such a tiny amount of RAM. Much more efficient programming then! Shame commodore's colours (C16 and C64) were so dull compared to the BBC's or even the simpler Speccy though.

  • What a strange computer the C16 was. I thought my mates was awesome in 1985 when I was 10 and owned a second hand Vic20.

I can`t believe it came out years after the C64!

    What were Commodore thinking!

  • Not a lot as it turned out. :s

  • @Benzi75 Apparently, it was designed as an "entry level" computer to replace the Vic 20 and sold for a relatively low price so I imagine Commodore were trying to target the casual "hobbyist" market who wanted a home computer but weren't too fussed about its capabilities.

  • @Benzi75 It was a low priced computer designed to compete with other sub-$100 computers from Timex Corporation, Mattel, and Texas Instruments

  • there are 31 commodore 16 games for sale on ebay uk right now. I just put in a bid.

  • Anyone remember a C16 game called 'Berks' and 'Berks 3'? There was also a sort-of Berks 2, but it's very different. Also 'Baby Berks', heh. Similar games to Atari 2600's 'Berzerk', but a bit more variance and strategy. Perhaps I could make a video about those games some day. There isn't enough Commodore 16 stuff in youtube, sadly..

  • Why is that comment marked as spam? How do we 'unmark as spam'? Damn youtube.

  • Terra Cognita was fukin brilliant!

  • yeah i used to love it as a kid but you got to a certain part where the wall went right across and there was no way on??!!

  • The good old days :-)
