  • nice review. i even got my own :D

    and a review

  • thank you Lisa! This review was the last thing I looked at after researching this laptop and now i'm sold. This laptop has everything i'm looking for. I'll be getting the i7 version which is on sale on lenovo for 999 until march 14 i believe.

  • @AlphaDwg Excellent!

  • hi lisa does this run CAD software smoothly? i need it to run CATIA by Dassault for school

  • Would you recommend this for a design student?

  • I just got the i7 U400 today and it is fantastic. The only problem I have had with it so far is the fan noise. It is noticeably loud, not horrible but something that will take time to get used to. Another thing is because its smaller your palms to rest on the keyboard making it click places when you type. Other than that its amazing. I definitely recommend this to anyone, and from switching from a MacBook Pro I regret nothing. I can answer questions about it too if you have.

  • @LeafInTheWind09 Hey I'm considering getting it this weekend because it is on sale until the 7th for 799

    2nd generation Intel® Core i5-2450M Processor 2.50GHz 1333MHz 3MB

    8 gigs of ram 500GB 5400

    AMD Radeon HD 6470M 1GB

I will be customizing it so I can run Logic Pro 9 through it. My main concern is that the hardrive is not 7200. I was considering a Macbook pro but it's expensive. Is this computer good for recording? or should I honestly wait and get a little more pricey of a computer.

  • @melgosa41 I haven't pushed my computer far yet with my AutoCAD and Revit programs yet but from what I can see with just read/write speeds of putting files on it you should be fine. You would need to get a external mic because like all laptops the internal mic isnt amazing. The U400 > MacBook because of price, specs, and weight.

  • @LeafInTheWind09 Thanks. And i'll be getting things such as firewire and an audio box to

record through. I just wanted to know if this is a "good computer" that

will last me at least 3 years without complaining ha. Thank you for the

    info.

  • So that's what you look like :D

  • can this laptop play skyrim?

  • @m4tttc Yes

  • Excellent review! :)

I've been considering getting a lighter but powerful notebook for school and travel to replace my Asus G73SW, because i's gotten to be a pain lugging everywhere

How well would this handle something like Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate? That's my only real concern, is having VS lag.

  • @Innershroud It's not a gamer's dream machine but the hardware and graphics should run VS fine.

  • @MobileTechReview I know it's definitely not a gaming machine, and I'm content with leaving my Asus at home for gaming. I just need something that can for sure handle my developing software.

  • lenovo is very cool

  • You are my favorite reviewer on Youtube. These reviews are so in depth and informative! So awesome. :)

  • @crazychaoticcool Thank you very much! Please share our reviews with others. Thanks! :)

  • if you're a light video maker, would this be able to run sony vegas movie studio($50) well?

i own this laptop, i have a review, but i want to make sure before i buy

  • im watching this on the same laptop :D

  • i think it looks sexy but why haven't they bothered to put a VGA out? i guess it's a standard among portable computers, extending displays to external monitors and projectors.

  • This rig is extremely hard to mod! Once you open it, the back cover will not fit back on same as factory.

  • cant wait to see your series 9 2nd gen review

  • Geezus @tompov and @erdal get room

  • Took ultra'book' too seriously lol but I think this is the finest looking ultrabook next to the asus and hp.

  • i guess this is the consumer version of the enterprise t400?

  • Y'all all needed to stop being immature y'all have different opinions do what

  • The is a complete rip off of the 13" macbook pro. Just look at them except that's running crappy windows and crappy lenovo hardare that crappy.

  • @tompov227 The graphics cards are way different. I have seriouslly looked at a macbook pro but without aruging about it....I can't seem to find any specs worth the price? Any solid reasons why it's better?

  • nice videos :D

  • Crysis 2 can run on a TI-84 calculator.

But seriously though, it can run on pretty low-end hardware if you scale it back enough. Just wanted to let you know.

  • Until they put backlit on those keyboards it isn't a must buy imo.

  • hahaha so much jealus Mac fags

  • @erdal0 First off, learn to spell dumbass. Next, we are not jealous, at least I'm not. I pissed because Lenovo realized that Apple has the best Computer design and they had to steal it because they wanted a successful computer, but should realize that as long as it runs windows and has crappy Lenovo software, it will always be.... crappy! My MacBook Pro is still much better than this crap. Also, maybe you should learn to be a little less offensive so people don't think you're a brainless dick!

  • @tompov227 haha you call windows 7 crappy? Everybody is using it, every real serious business and person. Only kidies, moronic fashion missfits use OSX. They will run bootcamp. And seconldy do your own research moronic mac fag. Apple took the design from sony.

  • @erdal0 The only reason "everybody" uses it is because it ships on really cheap PCs because its crappy and doesn't require that much money to be malfunctioning. Furthermore, I am not a "real serious business and person" whatever the hell that is. I am a normal average consumer who wants a functioning media-friendly notebook with some processing power which is why I bought a Mac. Also, Apple took nothing from Sony. Apple had computers and designs long before Sony did so you go do your research...

  • @tompov227 you moron. why would I pay 2000 dollar for an useless microwaver from Apple. When I can buy an ultrabook with windows7 on it and is the best computer ever? You just make excuses for yourself to convince youself that it was a good choice of you by letting Apple inc fuck your ass.

  • @erdal0 wow.... First, it's not $2000. Second, it is not useless. Third, while it has many functions, it cannot microwave. Fourth, and ultra-book is impractical not powerful and it runs windows, which--like it or not-- is horrible. It is made from 20 year old file system technology that has not changes in 15 years. All they do is change the UI and call it a day. it is slow, fragmented, poorly organized, open to viruses, old, and generally scattered and difficult to manage. I know from experience

  • @erdal0 Also, Apple can make and will continue to make more superior computers because they develop not flash, but actual technology and improve where others, including themselves, have failed in the past whereas microsoft will try to cover it up. That is why Microsoft will forever be called the scum of the earth, but you know all about that don't you?

  • I would just like to ask if you are planning on using this notebook like a computer by which you are using it with a charger. does it overcharge the battery or lenovo has made the battery resist overcharging since it cannot be taken out.

  • hate to say it, but nth's new under our same old sun.

  • $900??? . sold

  • I just looked at a review of the U400 on engadget.. And wished for a video review. Wow! My wish came true.

  • Thanks again for another wonderful review!

  • @hotguzmanguy You're welcome!

  • mac(ULTRA)book.... :S

  • Hi Lisa can you do a review of the HP Folio 13?

  • Thank you so much

  • Hi Lisa, love your reviews, I'm a lenovo U260 owner, I have one question for you, is the U400 able to run autocad with heavy 3D designs flawlessly? My U260 lags from time to time and that's a little annoying :/

  • @alexismil The U400 is considerably faster than the U260, and the switchable graphics are an improvement too. You should see much smoother performance in autocad.

  • @MobileTechReview Another question, I'm going to get another lenovo for work (waiting for CES announcements), but I will keep my U260 for personal use, If I get a Samsung 830 Series SDD will I see much greater performance? I think the HDD protects itself when I'm carrying the U260 around and it kinda lags when I use it on the move, as I try to avoid that I'm considering pretty much to get a superb SDD to go with it.

  • @alexismil SDD will noticeably improve OS and app loading time and all around performance.

  • Looks like a MacBook rip-off...

  • Thanks for the review..lol..you made me buy the U260. I must say this laptop looks great but I will just wait for the U300 instead, think its slimmer and lighter

  • I love your voice.

  • I like the new MTR intro screen Lisa.

  • @johnm9billion Thanks!!

  • coool

  • Optical drive is really important! :D

  • Thanks Lisa. Nice LAPTOP.

  • Nice looking machine. Great review, Lisa!

(BTW, I thought the background was a little too white, specially at the beginning of the clip.)

  • Great review as always Lisa!!!

  • My brother just got the Samsung Series 7 yesterday. He loves it. I'm still using my Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 ghz iMac from 06 and it still works great. That said, I realize that you can get so much bang for the buck with a windows laptop. I plan to upgrade this Fall and i'd either going to get a new iMac or some souped up, sub 1k windows notebook. Great review as always LIsa!

  • Wow im gonna buy that (:

  • Is it just me or it really looks like a macbook??

  • @etilleta EVERY Laptop/Ultrabook that's Silver and has a black keyboard will look like a Macbook, no?

  • @kaisergreymon99 It's just becoming obvious that people are taking design cues from Apple.

  • @etilleta a pirelli tire looks exactly the same as a goodwing one.Apple just has a minimalistic laptop that looks generic (though stilysh). That does not mean everything looks like it.

  • @etilleta Do NOT even begin on that... Can't you Apple fanboys just LET IT GO, for one second... Each time a bloody laptop even remotely looks like that piece of crap of yours, you start crying and screaming "clone".. It was the same with that sleek aluminum laptop that she reviewed earlier this month, just because it was made of Al and it was slim, you screamed "MacBook Air".. I realize you might not be a fanboy, but this message is dedicated to all of those..

  • @etilleta it indeed looks like one, just minus an apple and slightly better pricing for the tech.

  • @etilleta intel is now forcing all of its partners to push into the ultraboiok niche in order to combat tablets. It's fearing that the tablets will kill the PC market and indirectly harm their interests.

Today everyone copies everyone, not big deal anymore. Even an innovator like Apple copies a lot of stuff from its competitors This is what drives competition; innovate and copy. No one can solely rely on just innovating, you'll be broke by budget problem and still not good as those doing both.

  • @etilleta yeah! its not a bad thing though

  • thanks lisa, you're awesome!
