  • No offence, but it looks a bit like some sand suspended in water going down a plug hole.

  • @CptStormfield No offence at all. In fact this was also my wife's comment when she first view this video ... Probably hydrodynamic is the link between galaxy evolution and water motion near a plug hole.

  • but, as far as i know, there is a black hole at the center of our galaxy right? btw, is this video is fake or real? cuz it's so awesome...

  • @ParkourSyah Yes, that's the theory, it is supposed to be there, but none is really sure. This video is a computer simulation. We had last eons to record a galaxy movement. If you take a picture of a galaxy now and compare to another taken a century ago, you will see no difference at all. Despite the fact that the galaxy movement is very very fast, it is really too far to appreciate it.

  • Your black hole would have a mass of roughly 10^48 kg, or 1000 times more than the largest galaxy clusters. If this is the case, you would not see the black hole move; it would be the center of mass in the collision, and the galaxy would come to it. Second, we have not observed any structure even close to this mass at this point. Your video would be better titled "A Black Hole tears apart a swirly cloud of Gas."

  • What is about the event horisont? You will see that the object is still falling into the black hole when it has already disappeared. You will never see that it is fallen into pieces. So this simulation shows what will happen and what an outside observer won't see.

  • @everysecondiwaste Yes, that's true. But how can it be that an event is seen for an eternity. The photons emited during that event are finite, meanwhile an event during an eternity implies an infinite flow of photons ... Energy law must be preserved somehow ...

  • what if the black hole came across earth?

  • @SOyouTHINKurFUNNY If it comes close to the Solar System, it would be the Apocalypsis.

  • @CumputerPhysiscsLab What exactly would happen?

Would we literally fall off earth and be flying into space, torn apart?

  • @LuckyIzzy659 Not necessarily. In a galaxy collision the probability to collide directly with another planet or star is low because the space between stars is huge. Nevertheless, the current solar system stability could be severely affected. When colliding with a black hole things get worse, because falling near the event horizon would mean total destruction due to great tidal forces.

  • @CumputerPhysiscsLab how fast can it happen?

  • @SOyouTHINKurFUNNY we would never see it coming, cause the sun is a tiny star in comparioson to our galaxy.

  • we would be screwed

  • No violent supernova?

  • @AmpleLight lol there arent any supernovas when its sun gets dragged into a black whole =P

  • grammar check

the title says "A Black Hole tores apart a Galaxy"

Its should be tears apart, I think : /

  • Thanks a lot. My bad. You are right. I have fixed the title now. As you can see my grammar is very poor. But, thanks to our dialogs I am improving it gradually.

  • No problem, grammar can be tough, glad to hear you are improving :D.

Are you a native English speaker?

If not then I sympathize with you, because I'm trying to learn Japanese right now and grammar can be a tough thing to learn D:

  • No, I am not a native English speaker. I have heard that Japanese is really difficult to learn ...

  • Well the difficulty of learning a language is relative, based on your native language. The most distant language gap is between English and Chinese, and I've studied Chinese :D

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy

Your right, I worked for a Chinese guy once, he said things like "I am on top of dog" instead of "I am top dog" and "Customer is on my bone." instead of "Customer is on my back." LOL

You want to see some bad grammar, check yout spam box for those Nigerian scams, they crack me up!

  • @bayouastro Hahaha :)

I know what you mean, and yeah bad grammar can be pretty funny :)

    Take care...

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy

Are you serious? This be's Youtube not WebsterTube.

  • @bayouastro true, but that's like saying that forgetting everything you learned in school is okay, so long as you aren't in school.

Then again I think that outside of brevity, that speaking clearly is a way to avoid misunderstanding.

In short, being on "youtube" doesn't mean you should sound like a moron.

Though I also understand how hard second languages can be :P

  • same for me :)

  • I loved the quote at the beginning I completely agree with it. :D

  • Yes, me too.
