  • @Threecreation so do you think this album is still a Eight? It is growing on me, I may just it buy again but this time on vinyl.

  • FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF EARTH DUDE!!!!

ANGLES IS KICK ASS although 2kinds of happiness, and ur so right is kinda enn THAT ALBUM WAS KICKASS

  • I loved what you commented about people saying they want another Is This It album. I agree with you & I support experimentation :) Not to say that Is This It weren't great because ITI & RoF were EPIC BEYOND EPIC. I just like Angles too :D

"They're big boys now, they can do that"

  • There is no "the" in First Impression of Earth but apart from that great review man!

  • THANK YOU FOR NOT HATING ON THE STROKES FOR EXPERIMENTING WITH NEW MUSIC!!

  • I think Room on Fire was more enjoyable as an album than Angles, but Angles has so much energy and so many well produced tracks that its hard to say which album I'd rather listen to over the other. "Is this it" is still the best though.

  • hey, hey, you know what your talking about.

    nice man...most review are ignorant.

  • @aldotaka well thank you (:

  • I wish it sounded more like Under Cover of Darkness... i like their rock sound. This album had a lot more synthesizers and all of that and i dont like that as much.

  • oh man i beg to disagree about taken for a fool, it is indeed a little original but awesome at ears

  • a great album. just the fact that it hs so many differen't styles and meanings within the album its just doesn't flow so listening to the whole album through wouldn't be great but each song individually I think is really creative. Even if they have lost a little of the garage rock sound I still respect this album highly. I would give it a 8/10 also..

  • the strokes new album angles is simply incredible. Everyone is giving it alot of critisizm but its really good after listening to it a few time. Thats the best music the kind you have to listen to more then once. Its differen't and more electronic/radiohead like which definitely isn't a bad thing, okay.. one song is radiohead like. But each song you can hear different influences... but its like a mix of different bands all mixed together into one band. it doesn't flow throughout besides that its

  • Taken for a fool is the best song of the album.

  • Good review dude, that destroyer album is good as well. My personal fav. tracks on this album were call me back, macchu picchu, taken for a fool and gratisfaction... but everything sounds good, Metabolism in a weird way reminds me a little of heart in a cage, pretty good song though

  • idk is this it and room on fire are the shit first impressions was also really good not as good as the first two, but still really good. this one.....ehhh it wasnt that great i believe it was just to weird and it doesnt feel like it was all there. and im all for band evolving and changing sound you know but still this album doesnt deliver as good a feeling as their past albums

  • Where have you been all my life? I love hearing what you have to say about music, keep it comin.

  • @Flippinthebirdie I litererally AWWWWWWed in real life. Thats incredibly nice. thank you (:

  • @Threecreation Anytime! It's great to hear from people who know what they're talking about for once. I recommended you in my vlog for the week as well (:

  • or go back to Tony Orlando's Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'round the Ole Oak Tree :D really enjoinable tune :D ever and Fuck this review :D

  • I dont know why too much complain about this album.. every band has to grow up.. if you pick the best songs for the past 3 albums you will see that this one is more complete.. I dont say that the first album it was no a good.. its for me a CLASSIC already! but Angles its a awesome album too.. you can pick up at least 6 song from this album of 10! if you dont like it go a listen the first one forever! or listen LOS SAICOS! or listen The Cars...

    '

  • Hope you guys enjoy "Taken for a fool" ... very nice sounding... it's a bit electronical underlined... that's what i like about The Strokes...

  • 2:05 Are you trying to finger her?

  • @MMarquezs best observation ever

  • @Threecreation I'm sorry lol. I'm not trying to be perverted. You just started waiving you finger so much

  • @MMarquezs Hahahahaha... thats fucking hilarious..

  • also awesome review dood

  • Psht you people who completely say the album is garbage obviously havent given the album more than one listen and obviously aren't up for change, if the strokes continued producing albums EXACTLY like is this it or room on fire they'd grow old, they're experimenting with new ways of making music, and keeping themselves not only unique as they've always been but fresh as well. I love what they're progressing into!

  • the mediafire link is down ):

  • @ariellez1 You shouldnt be downloading illegally because its illegal. ahur.

  • @Threecreation I find this quite funny and ironic

  • Jfitz 1431 is right , i gotta agree . This album is a fucking mess. It's just been thrown together. I adore the first 2 albums , but I fear they just haven't got it anymore , and If half the stories are correct , they hate each other. I hate to say it but I'd only listen to 4 songs at the most , the rest are garbage . It brings me no joy to say this either I'm so so disappointed

  • three or four good songs. the rest is a mess. a huge disappointment.

  • i saw this and LASERS review, so i had to subscribe. :) thanks

  • Big radio hit= taken for a fool

    great album

  • @arniesalmon yea amazing song

  • The Strokes took a huge leap on this album. I agree these guys evolved out of the blue. There are 2 songs that songs that i think tried a bit too hard but still enjoyable. I have listened to the strokes from This Is It and i gotta say this album is pretty friggin great. They have certainly kept my attention and renewed my fanaticism for them.

  • I need a time machine to go back and see their young sexy concerts. So no. I do need a time machine.

  • hmm i dont agree on everything, taken for a fool and life is simple in the moonlight are 2 of my fav tracks from this album, as are machu picchu and under cover of darkness. all in all its a great album

  • Great review..The Strokes Rule :)!!!

  • Taken for a fool is my favorite track. :p

  • Great review, I said almost the same things. I think the issues with mixing and such were due to producing changes. I believe only the last song, Life is Simple in the Moonlight, is the only track recorded with their original producer and then others were done in their basement with a new engineer.

  • last impressions was one of the greatest albums of my generation, It was a masterpeice and you made it sound like a rushed flop. You listen to destroyer so what can you expect.

  • Im pleasantly surprised by it.

  • If you listen do Julians Solo work.. this album in places is a lot like that... And I for one and realy happy about that...

  • They are planing on havething another album there 5th... coming out later this year if all gos well...

  • I'd say that i agree with you on almost everything, awesome review, you're very good, very personable. awesome. and on a sidebar, so are the strokes.

  • @LilEd37 thanks so much :D

  • Like this if you came over from splattermusic. com

  • Who COULDN"T indulge in the MAMMA! On Taken for a Fool at 1:49? Those effects fill their sound out. One thing I love about the album is that the lyrics are complex and developed much like Is This It. I don't every knock FIOE. I mean Ize of the World!!??! YOLO?!>!>?! Heart in a Cage? Those are fucking ANTHEMS! God damn i know some songs could have been developed a bit more lyrically or go more extreme like Electricityscape. Oh well. Yeah, go listen to IS THIS IT? if you want that fucking album!

  • I fuckin love FIOE. Its a huge sounding album.

  • I loved first impressions!

could have been shorter but the good songs are soooooo good!

  • you look like Ashton Kutcher.

  • "If you (the audience) thinks the rest of the album will sound like 'Under Cover of Darkness,' then you will be disappointed or mind blown with the diversity of the album" I think you're right about that...I am one of those who are mind blown with the album. I love it...but I know and have seen others who are disappointed with it.

  • Mainly agreed with the points the made on this album. Sure, I'd rather just listen to "Is This It" but this is still a good album. It's going to take a few more listens to really enjoy this. I was surprised by the amount of variety on this album, but it also just felt too forced. Sure, there's some great moments and it's their best album since their debut, but I'm still really hung up on several of these songs.

  • this guy is a fucking loser

  • Great review, I'm buying it tomorrow so hopefully I'll like it as much as you did.

  • So I have a few requests,loVing punk week btw.Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover of Community fame)has a new free EP out,I was hoping you could tell me if its any good.also Mother Mother a quirky pop band from Vancouver have a new LP called Eureka out so give that a listen please.chEers on all the good work.

  • you don't need a time machine!!! well said. :)

  • hey :) u know how you reviewed the LASERS album by Lupe Fiasco....I know this isn’t what you normally do but I wanted to know your opinion on what you expect from his new album that going to come out (food and liquor 2)

  • @shinnai15 No idea x_x no tracks have come out, so I know about as much as you do.

  • @Threecreation lol ok thanks :)

  • I don't like The Strokes. They're one of those bands that got promoted as being good and people bought into the hype. Basically I think audiences were wowed because they were told to be wowed. Before The Strokes' first album came out, their tour sold out immediately. I remember my ex-girlfriend went to the show because she was excited about all the buzz on MTV and in Spin and all that mad crap. She hadn't even heard them yet. Oh well.

    Cool review, man.

  • I never really like fanatics of the band for the same reason. I found this to be my 2nd favorite album from the group this far, but I'm sure this thing is going to wear out fast on me. I love it to death as of now, but I should have mentioned that some flaws are going to stick out like a sore thumb even more as the album goes on.

    And yea thanks :D

  • @RickyShoreSings I can see your point. But the first song I heard was "Reptilia" in 2006, during the beginning of their hiatus. Before that I couldn't care less about the band. I like The Strokes a lot but I guess I'm cursed. I like their music, and others will think I "gave into the hype." But I really do like their music. Oh well...

  • @RickyShoreSings I can see what you're saying, but they are a good band. They make good music and influenced a lot of other bands.

  • @RickyShoreSings Absolutely agree with you

  • @RickyShoreSings Your some sack mate!!! Over-hyped me bollix!!! They were never really played on the radio, which in my book is very unfortunate, and were never really given the credit they deserved!!! I mean the bollix on the radio nowadays just makes me sick!!! Its shite!!! I salute all those young bands that try and make it nowadays in this world of fucking American idol and x-factor nonsense!!! The strokes rock on!!!

  • @RickyShoreSings 'This Is It' Is one of the most critically hailed albums of all time, I think the hype was well worth it. I understand that it is your opinion, but I think you don't like them for all the wrong reasons. Just listen to 'This Is It' unbiased and I think you will like them a bit more. (:

  • Very entertaining review. Well done.

  • @theKRIMS0Nking fanks :D

  • Great album!!!

  • @mingpowman76 agreed. c:

  • your aight

  • im sorry

  • your a fag

  • @rollingrockbrew haha what made you change your opinion on me so suddenly?

  • @rollingrockbrew Jesus Christ!

  • kind of i misleading review. You can flat out say the album sucked balls. Musically it was a mess. Not stokes at all. I like the simple hooks that JULIAN would come up with and they were good good jams. But this wasn't an attempt to change. It was JULIAN letting the band write song for once. Which they proved to the world that they suck at doing so. I see phrazes for the young as the third strokes album because JULIAN accomplished what the other members of the strokes didn't in this album.

  • @eacasta But you know thats all your opinion, truthfully. Im just telling you guys mine. LETS JUST ALL GET ALONG AND HUG, OK

  • @Threecreation.Yeah. I can't just overlook that he let other people write songs. Its Julian's band. The strokes remind me of the doors. First two albums great. third underrated but still great. Fourth, Jim let the other people have more writing freedom and the album turns out not as good. and they tried adding horns as the strokes try to add synths. like Jim, Julian didn't record vocals with the band. "life is simple" is the best song cause julian wrote it. Taken for a fool is the second best.

  • I LOVE THIS ALBUM!

So inspiring, the production on the drum racks are just soooo sweet

  • @columthealmighty As a man of sometimes odd and acquired tastes, I figured you would have xD

  • @Threecreation haha! Just call me the phantom man, you don’t know where i’ll pop up next. now u see me now u don’t!

Great review btw. I love the way you always give a great retrospective of the artist(s) work instead of just reviewing the album alone.

  • I just listened to this. It felt a little to much like a bad attempt at making a white album. The closest thing to cohesion on this thing was the interplay between the guitars, which was consistently good. I think I raised my expectations way too high after hearing Cover of Darkness. Still it was a pretty good listen.

  • @ItsAwfulbutitWorks What would you give it? D:

  • also, any chance of a Rural Alberta Advantage review in the near future?

  • @shoey920 nah :\ too late

  • I hate it, and it's not because I don't want them to change. They try 8484636 things on this album and it's just a mess to listen to. There are albums that do this successfully (Here's looking at you, You Forgot It In People)... but this just isn't an enjoyable album to me. I'll try it a few more times, but I'm just not going to mesh with this mess.

  • @shoey920 understandable. idk why everyone hatin on it tho. ): Me and MackasaurFM really love it.

  • Wat... why no sound like unda cova of darkness Threecreation???

  • @ItsAwfulbutitWorks I does liek eet. Eer jus dunt r3pr3s3nt da albom

  • Great review and LOL @ you don't need a time machine - Smart Azz :p !

  • @radio667 GO ON AHEAD> YOU DONT NEED A TIME MACHINE TO LISTEN TO ROOM ON FIRE EITHER.

  • nice addition to hardcore week.

  • @fecalmatter85 haha shut up xD it was streaming and I couldnt help myself

  • I love Strokes but not this one

  • @foolishlyable maw ):

  • Nice review, I know its hardcore punk week, but you should review the new Burial/Thom Yorke/ Four Tet songs Ego and Mirror.

  • @MrXtrmntr When does it come out? because...eh...maybe maybe not. I might just gamble and do it because of the hype.

  • @MrXtrmntr its out already, I found it on Youtube.

  • Nice review, I know its hardcore punk week, but you should review the new Burial/Thom Yorke/ Four Tet songs Ego and Mirror.

  • I'm streaming it as we speak, and I really am digging it. Sure it's not traditional Strokes, but how can you expect a band to not change?

    P.S.

I really hope you made your voice that high without digital manipulation. Because my respect for you would go up tenfold.

  • @TheSim1derful well...guess I lost your respect then

  • What happened to punk week???Was expecting some Hardcore not post punk.

  • @Nortatem DID YOU NOT SEE THE ANNOTATION!? D:<

  • I am a fan of the Strokes, I need to listen to the whole album first since it seems different from their usual.

  • @HeyThatsHolly Incredibly. And at that, I still only recognized a few MOMENTS (rather than tracks) that reminded me of full on Garage Rock or Post Punk revivalism going on.

  • Such as disappointment, the Strokes not you, haha. I guess you have expectations and they didn't meet mine. Loved Room.

  • @HeyThatsMike I didnt have expectations for them really. Not as much as I wanted NEW sounds from them.

  • i wasn't really paying attention to the hype of this album. i'll give it a few spins though.

  • @dpowanator hope you like it :D

  • SUCKS DICKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

  • @SilentEcho33 but...thats just like...your opinion man

  • YES, great review Austin, always a laid-back cool bro (:

can you review the vaccine's debut LP?
