  • @robertlowery1 how many sets did you do?

  • @robertlower1 how many sets did you do?

  • i through high 80's to low 90's and wanted to know about leg strengthening excersises???????

  • Josephglass13 that's a complete lie whoever told u that is wrong first u want good solid mechanics then to throw harder u should be working out not to get big like a football player but more flexible and working and ur legs will help a lot and working out ur calls and certain parts of ur shoulder and arm too

  • Thank you so much! This helps alot

  • seems like if this is done improperly it can cause a lot of internal shoulder problems. Just my observation

  • im 15 ,i started this 4 weeks ago .i used to throw 85 now im hiting 90-91 it works!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey I'm 9 years old and I throw 95 MPH do you think this exercise will help me reach my goal of 100 MPH? Lolololololololololol dumb kids..

  • @JosephGlass13.. pretty sure you are wrong about that.. but if it helps u sleep at night..

  • Pitching has nothing to do with arm or shoulder strength. This is useless basic strength and solid mechanics is all you need, if you want to increase velocity improve mechanics.

  • @TheRed15Sox it's hard to 'pitch' with both hand, but not impossible, it took me about a month to be able to throw with my other hand, so I suggest master your right hand is enough, but if you really want to pitch with your left, start with being able to snap your left arm like you do with your right

  • Hey guys i'm 11 years old and I throw 105 mph, is this exercise still good for me?

  • @coffee7729 ok bud

  • Hey I'm a 14 yr. Old kid throwing in the seventies right handed I'm working on being able to pitch left handed to. Does anybody have any tips or advice?

  • @TheRed15Sox quit cause probably suck dick

  • I just turned 14 in May and I throw the ball 68-71mph 73 top speed when will i start to see results with this exercise. Do you have any other exercises that would help me increase my velocity

  • Does this really help? Cause I hit 92 on the gun and that was just from long toss and being a badass

  • I go to the gym 5 or 6 times a week, and I can easily do this every time I go. Would you suggest I do it every time, or just do it 2-3 times a week?

  • Jeff Cavaliere knows what he's doing. He's the real deal.

  • this guy is a stud! I have his teen sports nutrition blueprint program. He knows what he's talking about

  • if you are a pitcher who has a below average fast ball dont try to add velocity..you cant teach velocity. teach your self mechanics so you can place it whereveer you want. i myself have a very strong arm im only 16 n i can touch 90mph on my fast ball but still have to work on mechanics. doesnt matter how hard you can throw the ball if you cant locate it

  • you can teach mechanics but you cant teach velocity:)

  • @MrTravi81a Proper mechanics increase velocity because you are throwing with your entire body as opposed to relying on your arm for power.

  • @PitchingAcademy really> then y dont all left handers throw hard? and y doesn't most right handers throw hard consistently? you gotta have the gift and arm..i got ok mechanics but a hell of an arm. you cant teach velocity or power, but you can teach mecha

nics, its up to pitcher to use those mechanics and the arm, and the brain to throw hard.

  • @MrTravi81a I just said with proper mechanics you can throw harder. You did too if you reread what you wrote. You wrote this:

its up to pitcher to use those mechanics and the arm, and the brain to throw hard.

Does that mean you get power from your brain as well to throw hard?

  • @PitchingAcademy

Mechanics don't make you throw harder. Mechanics are a side effect of thinking. I can derive the definition of attitude if you don't understand this concept.

Anyways, since thinking causes action when people have mechanical flaws, the only way to fix them is by changing their thinking. Mechanics do nothing more than tell someone they have a problem with their thinking, and many times the mechanic has nothing to do with the change in thinking that is needed.

  • @PitchingAcademy yeah..lol..if you didn;t use your brain you wouldn't even be able to throw!!! iF YOU DIDN'T USE YOUR BRAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU ASK YOURSELF WHY YOUR CONSISTENTLY THROWING OUTSIDE EVERY TIME, OR HIGH OR THROWING IT IN THE DIRT. YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR BRAIN THEN MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT..OH MY GOSH YOUR A DUMBASS!!!

  • @MrTravi81a Nice Richard!

  • @MrTravi81a

You are confusing the ideas of the brain and the mind. The brain isn't the mind any more than a fingernail. The brain is an electronic switching station that produces thought impulses. However, the brain isn't thoughts itself. The brain is not the cause of making adjustments. Creating new thoughts is, which isn't the brain. The creation of thoughts is resident in the intellect and is a nonphysical process.

  • @MrTravi81a

I've taken someone who did everything I told them and increased there velocity by over 15 MPH in 4 months. Velocity can be taught. The problem is you're currently focusing on mechanics. You are living outside in, not inside out. Its thinking that causes mechanical flaws. You should change the thinking and you can fix mechanical flaws extremely quickly. Its just a matter of replacing bad habits with good habits. Most players don't even think about the torso, so they don't throw hard

  • yea its mechanics. And the arm does nothing, its ur trunk meaning core and legs with proper upper rotation. You teach mechancs to increase velocity, you cant teach velocity. and yes thinking too much wil cause bad habits, repetition brings mph and good habits if thrwing with the rite mechanics. Ppl who thrw over 85mph is stil at risk of tommy john..thrwn hard is a gift, perfect mechancs is gift that is practiced over and over again, and the torso only works when its usd at the rite time

  • @MrTravi81a

    Your initial statement:

"its up to pitcher to use those mechanics and the arm"

    Which changed to:

"the arm does nothing, its ur trunk meaning core and legs with proper upper rotation"

Can you define the term rotation as you use it in your description of how the torso works?

What do you mean by 'teach mechanics'?

Isn't it players who try to develop mechanics that tend to get arm injuries?

  • @MrTravi81a

Please, answer those questions so I can understand what you are trying to say.

Now, you misunderstood what I said regarding thinking and habits. Paradigms are a multitude of habits fixated upon the subconscious mind. They are other people's habits, and they are developed genetically and environmentally. Your belief that changing mechanics will develop pitchers is a paradigm, and if what you mean by 'changing mechanics' is what I think you're saying...the idea is ridiculous.

  • @MrTravi81a

People have an intellect, they are spirit, and they live in a physical body. The intellect resides the intellectual faculties, which are imagination, reason, will, intuition, memory, and perception. Lets focus on the reasoning factor. This gives individuals the ability to think. Thus, the intellect provides people the ability to think. People are spirit. They are spiritual individuals. Spirit is expressed based on emotional involvement with ideas.

  • @MrTravi81a

Spirit, in its purest form, is an all powerful, equally present, life giving force. Spirit in its purest is absolutely perfect unadulterated energy. Spirit causes feelings. Now, people live in physical bodies. The physical body is what you see when people have actions. The actions are not caused by the physical body, they are actually caused by the intellect (In this case thoughts from the reasoning factor). If people's actions (aka mechanics) are not where they should be

  • @MrTravi81a

that means there is something wrong in the intellect (aka with their thinking). To fix the problem, you need to change the thinking. The physical body is a symptom of the mind. Mind is movement, body is the manifestation of movement. To see a mechanical flaw and to adjust the body to fix the mechanical flaw is like burning a piece of bread in the toaster (because the toaster is turned up too high) and trying to fix the piece of bread. Its a foolish idea.

  • wat does the work on and how does the deceleration of muscles help velocity?

  • @333dwalsh

This type of training won't make you throw harder. Weight training for pitchers more or less should help you avoid injuries. Some of the weight training to avoid injuries will cause pitchers to produce more force and therefore increase how hard they are capable of throwing. However, the best way to throw harder is to learn how to think about the torso.

  • being very flexible in the arm area will also increase speed greatly.

  • i do this workout 5 hours a day every day and now i cant throw a baseaball at all, why is this?

  • @charles21woodson because you aren't giving your shoulder any rest hahahq

  • @charles21woodson Holy your gonna blow your arm out!!!!!? Why do you think They give pros 5 days of rest??? to recovery their arm you are going to seriously hurt yourself if you do that everyday.

  • thanks guys, i'm 13 and i was throwing 92 before this, i did this exercise everyday for 6 weeks and now i'm popping the mit at 97. Great exercise!

  • @GoldenWings79 bullshit

  • @GoldenWings79 ha bullshit

  • @GoldenWings79 He means Km i think.. not miles

  • Would this work for cricket?

  • @TopGearDog431

It will work for Cricket too. Have you ever noticed that fast bowlers usually have the best throws from the outfield!!! Co-incidence??

  • im 14 and to me top speed is everything, but i keep it safe. instead of just doing it 2-3 times a week can i do it everyday. thanks

  • Will this work for people aren't pitchers, such as outfielders?

  • Jeff should we do this on both arms or just our pitching arm?

  • Thanks. I'm 15 and I was throwing 84-85. Now I've been doing this for about 3 months and I'm hitting 88-89. It's a really good exercise

  • jeff i cannot thank you enough for showing me this drill.. guys seriously do this drill. im 13 and was pitching slow at 48-50, after doing this 10 times, 2 reps after 8 weeks im hitting 61. wow. thank you so much

  • my cords are on my door which means they are elevated, does this mean that i cant do the drill right? or should i just buy another set of cords?

  • thanks

  • The arm has little to do with velocity. Your legs, core and mechanics are WAY more important than just your arm... Look at Tim lincecum

  • will this affect your bat speed?

  • what kind of band is that?? im 16 and im throwin ABOUT 76-80 not in baseball season. what other types of exercise can i do to increase my velocity??

  • if i start this workout this week, how many weeks do you think it will take to see a noticable difference (around 5 MPH)?

  • @kmoneyXC 2-3 times a week for around 4-6 weeks will show velocity gains!

  • @JDCav24 okay sounds good. ill give it a try and give you some feedback in a month.

  • @JDCav24 say in 6 weeks u gain 5mph does that mean in 12 you will gain 10 or would have to get a tube with more resistance

  • @BaseballXaverian2010 are you retarded.......your arm can only be so strong...i say if you do this properly, and complete your reps weekly, you should gain 5 mph in 2-3 months...it doesnt work like that each month or people would be throwing 200 mph.

  • @TaylorSkooterz i didnt mean like that much but say if you are a kid you can prob. gain more then say a 20 year old guy doing this

  • @JDCav24 can you do it 5 times a week?

  • Why Don't we just pitch, how about dat

  • Cool video and an important concept!

  • i max out around 82-85, and im 14. my coach says weight trainging isnt the answer, its my legs cuz im not using them. any suggestions?

  • @dylansamazing95 maximize your stride, at your age u should be striding about 70-80% of your height. the momentum gives the ball about 3 to 5 mph when done corectley. make sure your legs are really flexable

  • How many should we do

  • @ShockMaster13 Do 2-3 sets of 8 reps on your throwing shoulder 1-2 x per week

  • how many should we do?

  • i throw about 78-81, which other muscle/muscle groups should i strengthen to increase velocity??

  • @muma0449 Make sure you're getting your core and of course...your legs. All power starts from the ground up!

  • @muma0449 Core is very important as it connects your upper with your lower. It is all important. Decelerator and accelerator are only a small part of throwing the ball hard. heres a tip from a pro - dont baby your arm and long toss during the offseason in a smart way about twice a week. I played pro ball for 6 years and there is new age crap coming out every year like this. Here is all u have to remember - strengthen whole body, compete hard, and find your nitch, and dont listen to this guy

  • @bigdog331984 what are you talking about the guy in the vid already responded to the same guy you are talking to and told him to be sure he works his legs and core and this guy has tons of vids of great workouts for all parts of the body so he knows the whole body is important.

  • Im doing it the way u show here in this video and the other way is putting it in shoulders height as making a pitch, from back to front, is it ok? im an OF though

  • @B787YV Outfielders need strong arms too! Your tweak to the exercise is perfectly fine. Keep up the good work!

  • @thrashmetal I did four sets of 12.

  • i like it...

  • Would it be okay to do this exercise 5 times a week instead of 2-3? 3 sets of 10 reps?

  • another thing that will help increase ur velocity on top of this is that when you are in ur wind up dont step to the side , step straight back and then wind up, cuz ur momentum is going forward when u step back, rather than all over the place when u step to the side. it worked for me when I stepped to the side i threw about 81 to 83 mph when i stepped back i threw 86 mph it works trust me. im gonna try this excercise to maybe ill get up to 90 hopefully

  • how do u make ur arm be able to throw faster long distance by exercising?

  • work on your core and legs, and play long toss.

  • play long toss 2 to 3 times a week on ur local high school football field like i do. Its an excellent work out for outfielders and pitchers who are trying to throw faster and more accurate from long distance. But for the pitchers part in the workout it increases there velocity

  • hhaha dude, you kinda look like nomar.

  • I saw this video and started doing it 2 months ago, I do this exercise 3 times a week and my velocity has jumped from about 77mph to about 83mph. Granted, there has been alot of other exercises and training in there too, but this is one of them.

  • THAT'S what it is all about guys! Congrats on your success golson92 and keep up the hard work. It will pay off.

  • @golson92 how many reps should i do when doing this exercise?

  • How much will this increase my velocity by? Im almost 14 and im pitching around 73 or 74mph when i really rear back and throw.

  • how many sets/ reps would you suggest for a 16 year old? and how many times a week?

    thank you

  • id say 3 sets of 10-12 reps per side 3 times a week with atleast a days rest inbetween workouts. you dont want to do this type of exercise till failure.

  • alright thank you very much

  • let me know if you have aney more questions about working out. I have allot of time on my hands and dont mind helping you out.

  • 3 sets of 12.....2-3 x per week

  • thank you. i just got done doing this it felt good. i worked both side also

  • I dont see how this can hurt..BUT I like wrist rollers to build forarm and wrist strength.

  • This isn't an exercise to increase velocity...it's an exercise to prevent injury.

  • Yup it does increase velocity

  • this is almost like the one of the pitchers 10 exercises

  • i just had a tournament i through out three runners at second i need to improve my velocity and we won the tournament

  • been doing this exercise for 2 weeks now, hoping it will pay off when the season starts

  • How many injuries have the Mets had this year? ok...

  • Ummm.....safe to say that it's been far too many! It was a very unfortunate year to say the least

  • Very helpful

  • i use these things at home every day and me being a shortstop needs a good arm this works perfectly and i noticed a great increase in pitching velocity :D

  • Best results are achieved with 2-3 sets of 10 reps using a fairly high resistance band. In season, keep it to 1-2 x per week. Offseason you can increase it to up to 3x per week.

  • how many sets and how many reps??

  • i heard you cant increase the velocity

and thats its how good your mechanics

  • u herd wrong

  • i like dat video but only have 1 question....

how many times i need to do per day?

  • From what I understand, if you get better brakes, that can allow you to throw faster without injury (as long as your whole body is conditioned, etc...), but it won't necessarily increase velocity, as this type of workout wouldn't transfer over onto the ball field.

  • Jeff, great video! This exercise not only helped my brother for pitching, but it's helped me for getting ready for lacrosse. Great exercise that works for more than just baseball.
