These M.P's know how to pretend but at the end of the day where it most counts, they don't care about the people they Govern... they don't care about you or I, it's all a front. One million people protested in London against the "illegal" war in Iraq. Made no difference whatsoever.

War in Iraq was proven Illegal. But nothing has hapenned to the perpatrators (UK, USA, et al).

People want an election now. But there isn't going to be one.

People want imigration slashed. But nothing is being done do stop it.

I feel soooo sorry for MPs.....what a terrible job they have....no wonder they need bars where they can drink alcohol for cheap...running a country is enough to drive them to drink.....and as they drink and then, cannot drive, they have to hire chaffeurs...it`s not their fault....they have to hire these people. They could get a taxi home which is cheaper, but come on....they might leave their secret papers behind in the taxis and then that wouldn`t be good...give the poor MPs a break.....!!!!

This is THE MOST sensible, intelligent, honest and insightful comment I have heard FROM ANYONE on this issue, especially the mainstream media. The media should certainly be exposing those breaking the rules but this is turning into a witch hunt, led by mob rule and jealously which is being whipped up by the media who the MPs have been too afraid of in the past to actually do that they should and address the issue of MPs pay properly. So where is the blame really ?

Double the salary and give them a warrant to travel first class on the train. That should be enough. All this public humiliation of MPs is not necessary. Dangerous time to call an election unless people want to be governed by the BNP. Honesty is the best policy (or best poverty).

Why does an MP require such sums live on when most people live on less £20000 a year. It is not as if they do something important, unless you consider their ability to ruin lives of less fortunate people in favour of another section of society of so call wealth creators.

So what if they give up their career to become an mp they want the glory.

So what if they get thrown out in the next election they should have done a better job. They make laws that make it difficult for legitimate people to get jobs, allow companies to intimidate and make their employees pay for their own p.p.e. .

If £5.76 is good enough for certain section of society then those who make the rules should live by that standard. They could claim for tax credits?

I agree, in fact, I nearly stopped watching the video when I heard the excuses which MPs use repeated here. But I stuck with it and his actual proposal made some sense.

Though I fear that (any) expenses reform is a distraction from what has angered people - so many MPs were caught out - it happened to expenses, and despite the clear wrongdoing, there's nothing we can do about it. Except watch as they make excuses, and change the issues (to the speaker's resignation or new rules).
