Actually Vicken Tarpinian has joined with another young Armenian Artist Aren Emirsian to rekindle the spirit of Hartar. The new project is entitled Artar, they are coming out with a new album later this year, plus have two dates in Los Angeles late October.
I recorded Vicken and Aren's version of Garod last year live in Cologne. You can watch it here on youtube
Does anyone know when (or if at all) their album will be released? Obviously they fell out during the recording sessions. I would be grateful for any info!
I have the COMPLETE HARTAR music album on "CASSETTE" but INCH VOR MI LOUYCE has a 1 second sound dropout due to my pressing record accidentally for a second. I also have VICKEN VIKEN TARPINIAN and HAROUT BEZDJIAN SOLO PROJECTS on CASSETTE
Do you have a video of your performance? Would love to see it, sad to hear that the Armenian community is dying out around your area, i hope they do something about it, like Armenian activities to involve the youth.
in the past centuries Armenians have been strong and pretty powerful in the area where i live, but in time they lost interest in their language, culture, everything...and mixed up with Hungarians..here in Transylvania. in the southern part of Romania they are somewhat better - more active, they still speak the language (at least 50% of them, as far as i know), and take time to keep their traditions alive.
though for ex. my family, from my mother's side, has a catholic tradition, and my mother's uncle was a Mkhitarist General Abbott in Vienna for over 25years, almost everybody lost evry kind of interest.everything that reminds them of their roots is the religion..and some dishes:) btw i am still trying to learn how to cook khorovatz:D
Well, all the Armenian communities went through difficult times, one of our struggles was and still is to keep our identity strong, but i think we are closer to being ONE than ever, we have to try our best to teach our youth our heritage and hope that they will see the importance of keeping to our Armenian roots
I think your area needs a lot more Armenian activities happening with church, live music events,Armenian plays etc. This way they are able to be around other Armenians and to be able to create a nice group of Armenian friends. While speaking the language to each other and so on. Good luck with the khorovads :)
My granfather (and my father) sang this song on a few occasions. I never thought I will ever hear it again. Here I am enjoying listening to it again. Brings back memories. Well done axper.

I agree with you both. ROSY ARMEN's is by a mile the best, though.

i agree with garickoganesian..it makes me cry too...
i recently interpreted it on stage...in a manifestation dedicated to national minoritiesm i was representing the armenian community...
and i cried after i finished it...
its all the more sad because where i live armenians are dying out...slowly but surely...
