Being raised on this stuff, though at times I could not stand it, today I hace come to appreciated the musician of that era, for they are a calssof thier own and have contrubuted to this generations abilites, even if they deny it! Along in this group is Chet Atkins and Roy!
In Germany appeared "Wheels" with "Isle of Capri" as a B-side on London Records. When I was a kid, my parents let this pressing often run on their Perpetuum-Ebner music locker. Great music, which still today remains unforgotten. Have the single record still today and I can not part with it - it still like to put on my turntable Direct drive turntable Hitachi HT-355. Greetings from Germany.
when I was five years old I walked about 1500 feet on my stomac rubbing a dusty way to the town center to hear this song, I did that because mom wathing me from home there were no houses tries or bushes to hide me that is why I walked on my stomac now I am 55 and find tis song and heard it honestely I cryed rememberin that time never come back.
Which was the bigger hit Sting-A-L ongs version or Billy Vaughn's? String-A-Longs charted first 1/9/61, peaked at no.3 and was charted for 16 weeks. Billy's version charted 2/6/61 peaked at #28 and charted for only 8 weeks.
@MrSkokiaan I think the String-a-Longs' version was released a few months before Billy Vaughn's but they both were hits almost simultaneously with Billy's version being the higher rated one on some world charts and the String-a-Longs on others.
kmikeyd-Lucky, lucky you! What an amazing experience that must have been--scared or not! Love Billy Vaughn-thanks Mom for all the great music you introduced us to as little kids growing up on a farm outside smalltown southern Alberta Canada.
This takes me back to my college days. I had the awesome privilige of accompanying Pat Boone at the piano when he performed at Abilene Christian University in the 1960s. I couldn't believe that he didn't bring his own accompanist. Scared the daylights out of me!
Love this, I was 3 years of age when my sisters bought this record..........happy memories!!!
