This is so much better than 95% of modern fight scenes, with their queazy-cam over-edited jumble of nonsense and no visual frame-of-reference so that it's impossible to tell what's going on!
Looks real enough to me, why is it on every video on you tube people always arguing and hatin, get a fuckin life, so much hate in the world as it is. Take things for what they are instead of over analysing everything. Geez!!!

first time i saw this in the movie i watched it at least 10 times. such a good fight scene. why cant most hollywood fight scenes be like this? fluid and in one take with a floating camera? its hard to believe a fight scene where you can plainly see the goons standing around and pretty much waiting for the main character to kill em. that doesnt happen noticably in this scene and it really sells the fact that hes fucking BA.
This is what The Bourne Series fight scenes should have been like. Non of that Batman shummmm shummm camera flying can't understand what's going on but the bad guys are falling.
I think"pick him up" was code to be heard officially on CIA record. When he has kicked all their asses,he picks up the walkie and the voice says"Weigler wanted confirmation 2 minutes ago." Most likely confirmation that he´s dead. Make an attempt to bring him in and if he resists kill him cause he knew things Weigler did not want the agency to know, her involvement in it.He was of very little use alive n the men were working directly for Weigler, not CIA.
This movie was great, and in large part because of its amazing camera work. If you take notice, most of the movie only cuts from scene to scene when necessary. Most of the important parts, like the action/fight scenes, the chases, etc., are all filmed continuously in one span. That's not easy to coordinate/capture. That was one of my favorite things about this movie, the camera work.
This is awesome. All real time no slow-mo crap. And in one take! and not drawn out concise to the point. Takes down 4 CIA agents. And no need for Any dialog. We're not having a chat.
Compare this to his scene at the end where it goes from a Boromir redemption scene,high-paced,tense...and as soon as it turns into slow-motion,the scene becomes awful n the soundtrack really doesnt fit.
Easily best scene of the movie, technically one of the best of the year. One take that starts a minute earlier. Now some ask why they didnt just shoot him emmidiately. Well...they were 4 trained CIA-agents against one"over-the-hill" (Which he wasn´t)rogue agent, beating him to death pretty quickly or stabbing him was probably the plan. Guns make noises,When they realized guns were needed,it was 2 late. Love the realistic feel, that he takes some hits.Helller was a dead man running, refusing to die.
@Sumumabitch78 I think this scene was one of the weakest along with the switch flipping scene at the start. The guys were taking turns to throw punches in silly ways instead of pinning him down, or aiming a gun as a thread. The guy who grabbed Eric Bana from behind had his arms limped around lazily, like he was having fun time expecting a piggy back. That guy ALONE was in a perfect position to disable arms or put in a rear naked chok [see the opening for No Country For Old Men]
@BandanaDan Ok sensei bandanadan mister i know everything about fighting. what 10 years of bullshit did you study to come up with this conclusion. BTW who fucking cares you're complaining about a "Movie" fight scene. It's a fucking movie sorry it can't meet up to your bullshit standards. Stupid youtube armchair warriors think they know everything about fighting lol.
@BandanaDan And I never claimed it to be the best fight scene ever stupid ass. You pretty much fucked yourself over in your argument too. You sound like the typical wanna be UFC fighter with your whole rear naked choke comment in your last post, and you tried to use another movie to back up your previous statement, how stupid can you be. That's like trying to use wikipedia as a source for your college essay. God damn you're retarded.
@Lbdataz1469 So what's your problem? I don't watch UFC much - I'm more of a kung fu film and western nut, fool. Don't you think it's a little bit silly that the gang of CIA decided to do kung fu and back massages instead of grapples and gun threatening? No? Are you on the Hanna choreography production team, is that why you're so offended when I give abit of a reason why I didn't like this scene compared to the rest of the film? No? Shut up.
@BandanaDan O my god quit making yourself look stupid. 1. I've been martial arts for most of my life and there's not one bit of kung fu used in this scene I'd figure you'd notice that being a kung fu movie nerd and all but you obviously don't know what kung fu really is. 2. The reason they don't use guns is because it's pretty obvious they're trying to be discreet and are going for a more snatch and grab approach, you can't exactly be stealthy popping off rounds with your pistol.
@Lbdataz1469 3. You obviously don't know anything about fighting because the guy grabbing eric bana is using a standard type of grip for grappling. 4. You're a dumbass just give up.
@Lbdataz1469 The guy is clearly just holding him gently and rocking. Obviously the actor isn't going to grapple because it's a stage fight and not real - which is why I disagree with seeing it in a long take which shows all the flaws. Eric Bana did a commendable job being an actor but It's funny as I think the scenes were a 15 year old skinny blonde girl kills everyone in the interrogation room much more convincing and fun to watch! Yup, you obviously can't a decent come back, lol.
@BandanaDan And I'm convinced you're the typical cynical critic douchebag who is never satisfied with any movie you go and see. Why don't you go make a movie and choreograph the fight scenes since you're obviously so much better than Jeff Imada who's one of the best in the buisness for fight choreography. I'm done with you troll you're just too fucking retarded to understand anything, and yea if you know anything about fighting you know that nothing goes smoothly so to see people do
@Lbdataz1469 Actually I'd consider myself far from it, I really like this film. I just don't think this is the best scene in the film. If you wanted to argue against my point and say "Naw not possible for him to choke him from behind", or "CIA make mistakes okay?" then that's fine. But I find it fascinating how angry, assuming, and whacked up your replies are. Seriously, get some anger management man, you look so weak and pathetic.
@BandanaDan Wild swinging like that is not that uncommon, which that definitely adds to the realism of the fight. So go beat off to your kung fu movies since you think that people actually fight like that in real life with that tiger claw mantis fist forms and styles bullshit. Lol you obviously have never been in a real fight before.
@Lbdataz1469 And I've never claimed to be a better choreographer than Jeff Imada either. The choreography isn't bad. My only real criticism is that I don't think doing this whole directing it in 1 take with no cuts works. It makes the choreography staged and not real to me - that's my opinion. I'm entitled to it. Deal with it.
@BandanaDan Not a perfect take, which is the risk with an extremely long take like this.Though it might´ve ruined a bit of the feel,I would have suggested at least one cut.The grip looks a little weak but will remain my only problem with the fight. He´s supposed to hold him, nothing else n movement of Eriks body leads 2 other agents punches n attacks not hitting its mark. The fight´s based on underestimation n agents lacking real skills.Hellers been sparring with Hanna, agents with desks.
@Lbdataz1469 I'm convinced you're the typical angry aggressive autistic troll that doesn't understand reason or proper critique and etiquette. Also, no one cares if you studied martial arts all your life. I was being factitious when I said the CIA were doing kung fu, they were more like wildly swinging. Secondly guns can be used as a deterrent, they don't have to fire they can just point. Also you could stretch it to them being authorised to use them if need be. Also I actually like the movie.
@BandanaDan The switch flipping scene. They flip a fucking switch!U didnt like the camera angle.Or the light was too bright? And yes,I can see the opening scene for No country, since u seem to be going for realism. Not only did the cop neither go for the balls, headbutt but was so weak,it was sad.Second,it wasn´t exactly one take,it was seven. And what are you suggesting, man? That one of the agents came down to the station with his hands locked in handcuffs? What arms was he gonna disable?
@Sumumabitch78 I mean, I never understood why Erik even had the switch, they could have left quite peacefully without any of the agents knowing. If the goal was to get Hanna captured to kill Marissa - that's abit silly because that endangers her life and also Erik knew where Marissa was living anyway?
@BandanaDan U mean,u have a issue with the PREMISE?Well,so do I in that case. Why Hanna only could be a part of the world based on"She wont stop until youre dead...or she is." makes no sense if youre a caring dad.Once they´d survived the attack, would it be impossible to 5 or 9 years later take Hanna 2 Australia or Peru to grow up normal? How the F would Weigler find a normal girl?He says he tried to prepare her but that was for a life as a superassassin, the very life he saved her from
@BandanaDan So if you mean you have an issue with...the storys core basically,I will second that.Erik isolated her n developed her skills...out of personal vendetta?Did he create Hanna just to get back at Weigler? Also, his Boromir-redemption made little sense, since he lured them in opposite direction. Hanna ran n she could run fast n all the sudden Weiglers just standing there
@Sumumabitch78 The premise of Hanna being hunted and befriends a British family [that presumably die at the end lol] is ace! I have an issue with every scene involving Erik as his motivation makes no sense! I also think his fight scenes (underground, Boromir) are inconsistent as you also pointed out. The film requires alot of of reading between the lines, but it comes across as lazy and pretentious IMO. This film is good in a bad way, like a Jean Claude Van Damme film not Bourne Identity...
If only you could have done this to Achilles in Troy, you would have lived...
