Why does everyone trash Jason newsted? He quit Metallica , so what? Now he plays in voivod, get over it. Jason is (was?) pretty high profile so it's good for voivod it might (should) open them up to some new fans. They don't tour for free, they gotta make a living ya know just like everybody else

Voivod isn't a bass band, check out Flotsam & Jetsam for Newsted's bass skills. I don't think Burton would be able to pull off some of the things he did in that band. I personally think Burton is overrated, other then a few moments here and there he didn't do much interesting. Also, Katorz is like Metallica's Load, a horrible representation. Check out Killing Technology, the riffs on there are mind blowing.

I'm a huge metallica fan, but seriously. People, watch the Justice tour bass solos, and check those out compared to post black album bass solos. They were kinda watered down, still good, but not as musically interesting. Maybe they were pushed for time and that's why they are shorter.....but it's sort of true. How they didn't put the bass on the Justice album and how James and Lars are known for being controlling in studio. I still love metallica and jason. they are who they are and theyre great
i personally don't find his bass playing amazing, I mean he's good, but I've never found it particularly stand out... but Can't help but respect the guy! Jason is a damned good METAL bassist, but it wasnt until his later years in Metallica did he become a good "bassist." Hell, even Lars admitted that during the Justice recordings, they took his bass 80% out of the mix and turned that down a half a db (because of their lack of faith in him at the time).

Jason joined Voivod in 2003 before joined Ozzy. He otured with Ozzy and Voivod at the same time in 2003.

I was in a band and we played with Voivod two times in quebec!! Its one of my favorite bands! I would like to jam with them again just to remember Piggy!

Jason's great, he fulfilled an important place in metallica history, his strength of character in following the legend of Cliff Burton shouldn't be underestimated. I love Trujillo but Jason is an influence on us always......

i met voivod at ozzfest and talked to away for a bit before they played. i showed him my tattoo from the nothing face cd. its the sub effect pic. all nice guys they take the time with fans.

In metallica the guys would always pick on him. They would buy stuff during their tour and send the bill to his room. All the anger that they got from the death of Cliff. He wasen't the arsehole as you said. I dont think he is a great bass player, but he's still a pretty good guy i think!

I'm a huge metallica fan, but seriously. People, watch the Justice tour bass solos, and check those out compared to post black album bass solos. They were kinda watered down, still good, but not as musically interesting. Maybe they were pushed for time and that's why they are shorter.....but it's sort of true. How they didn't put the bass on the Justice album and how James and Lars are known for being controlling in studio. I still love metallica and jason. they are who they are and theyre great

i personally don't find his bass playing amazing, I mean he's good, but I've never found it particularly stand out... but Can't help but respect the guy! It's weird I always thought that out of metallica HE was the arsehole...how wrong I was! anybody with that much respect for their fans and that much dedication to giving them something to remember deserves so much respect

Jason is a damned good METAL bassist, but it wasnt until his later years in Metallica did he become a good "bassist." Hell, even Lars admitted that during the Justice recordings, they took his bass 80% out of the mix and turned that down a half a db (because of their lack of faith in him at the time).

i totally agree with klwiZaLegAND - dude jason has been my favorite bassist for many years now and the way he approaches the bass is so awsome, and his connection with the fans and the love for music really makes you wonder what happened to that in every musician who plays, jason will and has always been the one who loves to play for the music and not the paycheck, and i think that really makes him a person who stands out from everyone else

ever since i was 9 i wanted to meet jason:D i'm one of the kids he was talkin about. he is my reason for choosing bass 10 years ago, and ever since his style and sincerity have been very influencing for me... its a very cool feeling when the guy you worship is a down to earth person and quite a nice guy:D LONG LIVE JASON:D
