i hate my hp pavillion it overheats i installed a new copy the cd drive can not be found every time i install the sound it screws up no drivers and the screen is falling of and i have fixed at leats 30 computers but the hp pavillion is impossible

Try a copper shim to lower your gpu temps 15%. Only $5 and includes thermal paste. Search for "DV6000 Copper Shim" on ebay. Works with any HP TX1xxx/DVxxxx model or Compaq Vxxxx/Fxx models.

I have this same laptop and installed windows 7 professional on it and I can't seem to find the drivers for the touch buttons. I mean they work but I don't get the volume indicator popup that you did when you turn the volume up and down. Do you know where I can get this feature back?

Hello. could anyone give me any suggestions about this: I'm having some problems with my dv6700 laptop. While I'm charging the battery the screen goes dark as if the power cord was unplugged, and seconds later the screen turns normal again, it repeats several times more. I run the HP battery test and says condition 'good' and then goes 'invalid'. Would it be problem with the battery or with the PC itself?
Has your webcam screwed up? Mine has, it wont be recognized by MSN and the cyberlink you cam stuff. It says its not plugged in (which is highly odd...) Got any tips? I have been looking everywhere for help...
i never had trouble hitting the buttons on quickplay while typing...but turning it on i tapd(auto strts quickp). u can turn it on by touching the quickplay button then it will luanch quickplay at start up.

no, not at all. You should be able to put 4gb RAM in a 32bit PC anyway, I see no reason you can't. This computer supports up to 4gb and is only a 32bit
well i have 4gb in my computer now and its only giving out 3gb. it is able to read the full 4gb its just that its not giving me the whole 4gb because i was just doing a little research and ive seen that a 32bit os can only have a maximum of 3gb or 3.5gb if youre lucky... a lot of people have been saying that a 32 bit os can only run 3gb of ram o.O
Yes you are able to mix different sizes. Another problem you could be having is that, some Video Cards take RAM if the card is using all of it's VRAM. 32bits can support up to 3.5gbs
i also had to disable the OSD cuz for me the VOLUME display wud REALL mess up anything onscreen u can disable it in start by runing something...i duno what it is u'd have to google "disable OSD hp pavilion"
The volume display wud freeze the whole PC especially if a game was on fullscreen...it was nuts. I think ill re-enable it and see if an update fixed it just to see ha :D

Hello, I have the same laptop. The Quickplay button is annoying for me as well, it always pops up while I'm playing games or watching movies. Well i found out that i could disable it by going to Task Manager>Processes> *end process of QLBCTRL.exe and QPservice.exe. Only 2 cons that I'd like to meantion- The headphone jack fails to work if you unplug it in sleep mode, and also, the battery charger wire and the input of the wire is fragile (and low battery life-span)

My pressure sentivite button aren't as bright, and i have 4 gb of ram and 2.5 gHzt of processor. when i use it, i allways have it on windows Aero. I take it to full efficency.
hehehe funny u shud mention the v-card messing with sleep...i had a similar prob with the card but not for sleep. what wud happen to me is the screen wud randomly black out i resloved that temporarly by using the HP tools that set ur Video driver to factory defualt then updated when the issue was fixed. No probs since and the display is nicer (old)games run smoother :)

u have to burn a disc if u havent done that buy a DVD disc or a CD-R disc i recomend DVD-R...crap i duno what its called sorry...google restore disc hp pavilion some instructions for burning a restore disc shud come up

Get the dv2000 series they come with a 320 gb hard drive and 4 gb of ram and a hp webcam. it like a portable preformance pc. it only has a 14.1 widescreen though but has the same nvidia graphics and includes windows vista 64 bit.

ya this thing is awsum i got the better model. awsum gaming laptop compared 2 a dell its like 1g cheaper if u get the same features in a dell xps ur paying like 3g.
The one that I got I use for Video editing email that kind of stuff not a lot of games BUT this computer is game worthy however you might want something with more grafics card ram (this has 256 mb) you might want more but it will work.
I got the higher end DV6700 with the fingerprint reader- very nice. About the battery- the 12 cell one lasts over 6 hours for me. (The normal one is 6 cell. I highly recommend 12, nice typing angle and extra life!)

Be gentle with the pavilion (don't drop it).

The dv2000 series has a 14.1" screen so small than this. If you dont like that check out the TX series.

Get the dv2000 series they come with a 320 gb hard drive and 4 gb of ram and a hp webcam. it like a portable preformance pc. it only has a 14.1 widescreen though but has the same nvidia graphics and includes windows vista 64 bit.

Great review mate, I just bought this laptop the other day and this laptop confirms that it was worth buying!
Great price and you can play games on it. The hardest game I play is CoD4 or potentially TF2 and they run like a champ, not on high settings but definitely looking good.
It was $1400 here in Australia.

ya this thing is awsum i got the better model. awsum gaming laptop compared 2 a dell its like 1g cheaper if u get the same features in a dell xps ur paying like 3g.

The one that I got I use for Video editing email that kind of stuff not a lot of games BUT this computer is game worthy however you might want something with more grafics card ram (this has 256 mb) you might want more but it will work.

I got the higher end DV6700 with the fingerprint reader- very nice. About the battery- the 12 cell one lasts over 6 hours for me. (The normal one is 6 cell. I highly recommend 12, nice typing angle and extra life!)
