I'm not saying a send off isn't justified. This was a caution, at minimum, and I can easily be sold on a send off. But I want to hear your thought process.
This process is what referees will do with other referees at the end of a match.
The ball was over the striker's head and was pretty much unplayable(unless you're dennis bergkamp) off the bounce from the through ball. The keeper collected and had the ball in his possession far longer than it takes the human body to react and change directions especially for a footballer. He had enough time to jump like a retard into the keeper leading with his legs/ knees. If not red for foul. red for stupidity. Malicious or not.
Is it mandatory that all soccer players have to act like they got shot with a tank shell for EVERY LITTLE FUCKING FOUL?? And they wonder why everyone calls it a pussy sport!!
I am a Grade 8 referee, and based on this video, I would have issued a red card because the goalie already had possesion of the ball when the black player jumped into him.
Yeah yellow card only.. there's nothing violent about it.. He goes after the ball, arrives late, but does everything he can to protect the goalie. So a yellow is exactly right in this case!
@jaalleyne First you say theres nothing violent about it, but then you say its a clear red.. I hate to be the one to tell you mate.. But in order for it to be red, it has to be considered violent behavior. So as you pointed out yourself, its not violent, so a yellow is the right call ;-)

I played football,but got pissed off with diving and pussies playing the game and ruining it.I used to love getting stuck in,hard but fair,but if you so much as touch an opposing player these days they roll around on the grass like they got hit by a bus. I play Rugby now,where if you get hurt,you stand up and carry on playing,if you roll around feigning injury,its a sign of weakness. football is for pussies these days.

But playing Germany and Argentina will be rather hard. Although I rate the US team and think they could make a shock result or two. I can agree with that. I grew up playing top flight club soccer, but most of my friends that played football played in the recreational park leagues, and the sport they played, was not the same I played.

Should be a red card, since the keeper already had the ball and i agree with jrotcguy2006 elbow was definitely high and on purpose (replay shows) with no disregard to player's safety with violent conduct.
i think it would be a red card. he had plenty of time to stop, avoid contact and retreat. if you watch closely, he focuses on the keeper, lines up a shot, and leads with the elbow right to the keepers head. red card for violent conduct
YC seems to be the right call to me. Keeper definitely milked the thing ... regardless, YC is plenty severe for this foul.

Wether the Keeper is wimpy or not, you can obviously tell that the forward was not going for the ball. He was going for the tackle on the Keeper.
