That video was amazing I am a 13 year old certified scuba diver and this video helped a lot. I just got a go pro hero 2 camera for Christmas and wanted to see the clarity of it before I got in the water. You should probably slow your breathing down just a little. Anyway awesome video. I will be posting some scuba videos on my channel soon so check them out.
I think you should get a drysuit to make your dives more comfortable if it's cold, and then you can also dive in the winter! It will also improve your time at the bottom, since your body wont need to get you as warm as before.
4:22 It actually is really blue because of the depth. light is split by water, and the red would have long faded at that depth. As you go deeper and deeper, the colors blue and green eventually fade until no light reaches the vicinity. I am an advanced open water diver. Great diving though, looks like a blast
went scuba diving in spain with my dad and a guide, was one of the most memrable hols ever, i did it when i was 7 i am now 15 and i still have never forgotten it highly recomend to anyone who has a chance!!!!! :)
The reason the picture appears blue is because the colour red has a very short wavelength and any nature hue of red is virtually imperceptible below 16ft. As far as how legitimate this answer is, I am a certified underwater photographer and an advanced open water diver
damn. gopro's suck underwater. no reds, white balance is well off; oh -- get flat lens for the camera, it helps with the blur. but still, I get really blue pictures :(
Nikon N7000 + underwater housing is my plan, but these pro housings cost 1500 USD / 1200 GBP :(
@anothershakey Not sure about the white balance but the blue-ness is due to the fact that water absorbs other wavelengths of light before blue. Meaning: the deeper you go, the blue-er it gets. A little post production tweaking ought to clean that up enough to justify using a go pro in my opinion.
@MitchellWadeHarris Sure it will be blue underwater, I understand that. But on a pro camera it won't be that obvious, because it will balance it ("take" more red, less green and blue). Red gets attenuated more, but it doesn't mean it's not present. With good camera that has a proper sensor you will be able to get some reds. With go pro my red channel is almost non-existent at 20m (visibility around 30m). It's a toy. Works quite good on land, but I do not recommend it for underwater footage.
im deciding between getting a contour $130 or a gopro around $300. I really want the contour because its cheaper and more options to secure it with. Opinions?
@KhanSeb in turkey i was 3 weeks on vacation 2 weeks i dive everyday it was awesome i saw plane wrecks ship wreck we even saw a car(the guides didnt knew how it came there :P)
You are very knowledgeable, so I think I can get an accurate answer when I ask: Does it hurt any to be under that much more pressure? I ask this because I have a pool and when my sister was teaching me how to do one of those under water flips I felt a sharp pain in my forehead when I went upside down made me instantly loose my breath. idk why, but I can only imagine 38 meters down.
@TheShadoKnite Well, once you know the valsalva maneuver (you pinch you noise and you blow air through your noise), I would not say that it hurts. Anyway, if it starts to hurt and you can't make it change, you don't go deeper. Just good sense...
@TheShadoKnite it doesn't hurt at all; as long as you equalize; your body is mostly water, so you won't feel any pressure changes. you only feel them in places where there's air -- so between your nose and ears, and lungs -- but lungs just get the air at ambient pressure thanks to the regulator; so the magic is called equalization -- you pinch your nose and blow against it gently. it's hard for the first time, took me good 15 minutes to get down to 5 metres (!!!) but it gets very easy with time!
Imagine if you had to take a shit and you were extremely deep underwater, with those tight clothes, the shit you take will be strapped to your ass....
@Blazenwave I don't think the air supply provides enough underwater time for a person to feel a need to shit right then and there if he was feeling fine before diving.
@csmybuttt Well isn't there a type were they don't have a tank, but like a huge tank that sits on the boat, and you breath from it through a really long wire? You could stay under for hours with this...
@Blazenwave Hmm, in that case, I'd rather climb the tube into the boat to take a shit. If the boat has no bathroom, I'll just lean my naked ass off the deck. Then I'll go diving again. Of course, I'll move away a bit; no need to dive back into my stew.
@csmybuttt Oh, well... If you have tourista (which is really not rare when you come from a tempered country to a very hot country), it could happen I guess. Hopefully, never to me so far.
at the end where you come up from the water is so much like an FPS game!lol it reminds me of that level in CoD Black Ops where you are scuba diving...lol you guys must have been walking prunes after being in water that long
@RandomProductionsCA Of course there is pressure. But you don't really "feel" it, except with your ears. You need to compensate the pressure with a technic called the valsalva maneuver (you pinch you noise and you blow air through your noise). The "problem" of the pression is that because of the higher pression, more azote goes into your blood. And when you go back to the surface, you have to let your respiratory system evacuates the excess of azote. Basically...
@SuperComplainer I don't dive a lot, sadly. The last time I dived before that was 3 years ago... The week when Mickael Jackson died, actually. I saw that on TV eating my breakfast just before going to the dive club.
Diving is a great feeling. I dived once a time in my life in a swimming pool. 10 Meters. It was so great but i dont have enough money to make it again :(
@handicapfishy There is a technic named "vidage de masque" in french. It's simple. You just need to blow air with your nose. Look for the video named "vidage de masque et laché d'embout ". That's actually a technic that most divers do quite often, just because it allows you to get rid of the fog inside your mask.
@DevilsAirsoft I would tell to an other diver (there is hand signs for that) and I would use his second air valve (each diver has two valves on his gear for this kind of case).
This looks awesome! I would never do it though, I have a fear of swimming in the sea. What's the scariest situation you've ever been in? If there has been one that is...
@Arostyle380 Well... When I was in Maldives, I made a dive where I saw like 15 sharks. All together. But it was great and exciting, not really scary (those sharks were tawny nurse sharks, silvertip sharks, lemon sharks... Not really the aggressive type).
@CommanderMcMillan most like likely if it was possible the bbs have to have the same density as water or salt water so they dont curve up or to heavy and fall and must likely have to be propelled pretty hard under water and no springers or electrics most likely all gas. again if it was possible hint hint go invent it i want to try it :D

the stream was really stong one side of the boat.

just for a next time tip:
when the stream is strong you should go down to the bottom and crawl/swim close to the bottom it will help alot.

@1musketeerof3 most like likely if it was possible the bbs have to have the same density as water or salt water so they dont curve up or to heavy and fall and must likely have to be propelled pretty hard under water and no springers or electrics most likely all gas. again if it was possible hint hint go invent it i want to try it :D
