tht is so beautiful!! u guys are lucky ur living the dream and im stuck on the ground due to my parents and being 17 so legally without concent my wings are clipped :( but very good vid :D
to those who say I'm wrong that this only happens there and not in indiana in the u.s.a. look up "tidal wave cloud formation over clarksville indiana" . This is a great video though.
There is no question that these waves occur all over the world. Primarily, they are a marine phenomenon, and they are often seen over the ocean. They are also associated with thunderstorm outflows. So it is no surprise that you may have seen one yourself.
What can be said though, is that Burketown in Australia is the one place in the world where you can see large waves predictably. Each September/October glider pilots gather there to try and soar them.
A great vid, would've better without the music though, if you have the actual sound from the time that would be cool, it's a pity you tube doesn't have a feature to choose which sound track you want, you tube 2.0 maybe. It' Australia BTW these type of clouds only happen @ this one place in Oz.
I don't remember making the comment, but I think I meant that particular cloud formation called Morning Glory IE the one in the video was in Oz. I don't doubt your are right thou Risen, the US is an amazing country with such a varied geography, it's bound to have something the same.
Lift in the cloud? That cloud results from an atmospheric wave, no? Air rising due to wave lift and happening to reach sufficient elevation that the temperature is cold enough to precipitate water vapor in the air, hence the cloud? So, within the cloud there would be lift--the same wave lift that's causing the cloud in the first place. Anyone know what's causing the wave? Must be a long ridgeline behind somewhere. Where is this? Can look up the ridge on google Earth. Amazing phenomenon.
Great music! Great flight! Next time, have the pilot actually whistling or singing along with the actual wind sounds of the flight. Just a suggestion. This video exemplifies the peace that an angel might feel soaring about above us.
There was a case of a hang glider who went into the cloud, went through it and landed. There isn't any lift in the cloud so a hang glider circling down will eventually pop out without harm.
> Or would there not be enough wind to keep you up?
The main lift is just in front of the cloud. If you leave that area you'll have to land.
Hi Donny, My son sent me this because I like to fly in FS2004. You were truly blessed to experience that. Thanks for the video, helps us homebound souls experience a bit of it. Danny

Only visibility is a problem.

None, AFAIK.
