  • yeah it was kinda unique. back to the roots and looking forward in quite the same second. the band of the 90s I really did like aside all them grunge outfits. and it´s still amazing to hear them play their music. aah time runs by that fast, making me insane!!!

  • That's the Verve I like to remember

  • A Northern Soul is one of the best albums of the 90s. So much emotion and feeling. I would have loved to see the direction they went in had they not broken up the first time around. They definitely had it in them to surpass whatever was accomplished with Urban Hymns.

  • watching this, I have a sadness and regret for The Verve. at their peak they were the most spellbinding, amazing band of their time, but sadly they never reached their potential. I feel that Ashcroft was both the best and the worst thing to happen to the band. his performances live and in studio on A Northern Soul are incredible. but sadly he also came to overshadow the band, so that by the time of Urban Hymns they were essentially backup musicians to a Richard Ashcroft solo career.

  • @TheGilchrd yeah me too. when they strayed from the atmosphere drenched guitars etc after asih i lost interest for the most part. i always thought it had to do with ashcroft taking more charge and mccabe maybe riding it out through ans then leaving due to it, but then they made a pretty bad record in 2008 (imo) with mccabe. and regarding the black ships, i have high hopes & that's it. first four songs on asih is as perfect as anything i've ever heard.

  • all the band members lead there own McCabe starts 00:01 to 0:11 followed by Jones bringing the starting bass note and Salisbury at drums at 0:13

  • i totally agree, circa 1991- 1995 most mindblowing group of all time. Best years of my life...

  • This could've been one of the greatest bands ever...

  • @TheRebelShip eye agree. they made one of the greatest albums ever (asih), but fucked it up.

  • richard seems to have alot of energy...or hoped up

  • @futuremason4301 Yeah, the drugs were definitely working back then ;)

  • I love what a bunch of trippers they look like back then.

  • @gt2977b existence precedes essence!

  • Those slow tempos are what make the music seem like an irresistible force . All the Crazy Speed metal trash is like having a life long Orgasm . There is no crescendo. Or anything else it's always 'full throttle" and boring as hell. Not to mention the speedy guitar sounds like a bunch of chip-monk music hyped up on Redbull . This sound however will just roll over it as if speed metal was the smallest of ants meeting a strip mining dump truck tire for the first and last time...

  • Could richard ashcroft look any gayer in this!?

  • their song "grey skies" is one of my personal favorites besides this one. i love verve!!!

  • Excellent version

  • amazin thing about the verve was had such a powerefull sound at such slow tempos .amazin

  • Fucking Mad Richard Ashcroft!!!

  • They were easily the greatest band in the world back then. Mind blowing.

  • Will ALWAYS be the greatest band in the world :D x

  • wow i remember ashcroft from this period, he blew me away, and still today , hes still the same god like fkn genius...
