  • The Octopus is a pure Midi Sequencer to control external music gear via 32 Midi channels.

The company Genoqs that built this system do not longer exist. Therefore you must look on the market to get a used one (very rare).

  • Question, this amazing machine is just a empty sequencer for trigger by midi some another gear or also have built in drum and synthesizer?

  • This is a great video Sir. To be honest, your capabilities of spontaneous interaction with the sequencer are outstanding. The best of this sequencer, is that you have 16 steps for EACH track on board, with physical components, and individual visualization for each one of them. This is missing on most of the "grooveboxes" sequencer. You have 16 triggers, for all the tracks, and you need to switch track in order to input MIDI info. Here, you have all the channels simultaneously.

  • Thank you I like the machine.....:)

  • this is awesome

  • wow what a machine! Never seen this before!

  • love it when you say ''thats all ''. .hahah.. .

  • does it send cv out or trigger, or is it only midi?

  • No the Octopus and also Nemo has only 2 Midi in and out

  • very nice, the reverse play is awesome for improv. does this have a song mode to jump patterns? are there midi fx like an arp or randomization? thanks.

  • Hi, there is no Song mode in the classical sense.

You can easy program to play patterns n times before automatically go to the next..... but this patterns must be positioned beneath in a horizontal row in the grid mode. Therfore you can

play 16 Patterns (each with 10 Tracks) each n times before playing the next one an this in a loop.

    Arp and randomization is possible.

  • The Octopus has a Song Mode in the way that you can jump from one Page (with 10 Tracks) after playing n times to the next Page in the horizontal Page Line in Grid Mode and so on. But it has no free jumping cross the whole Matrix.

Some Midi FX are in place and also randomizing.

  • verdammt cool mann..

das macht appetit auf mehr :)

    cheers

  • Look 2 - 9

  • wich soundmodules are u controlling with the octo?

  • In the video I controll a Virus TI (Multimode). Nothing more.

  • Wow!

  • Man, that's awesome. I saw this on Bernd Kistenmacher's blog and had to find out how it sounded. Do you make music, man? Sounds like it, I'd love to hear some tunes.

  • It is awesome, yes, but remember that it is nothing more than a very advanced MIDI sequencer, so it doesn't produce any sound by itself, merely note and value messages, which it then sends to any compatible machine - in this case, a Virus TI synthesizer.

  • ok I'm really sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am interested in buying one of these..

can you load up all your own samples into the device?

  • Hi, no the Octopus is a pure fantastic Midi Sequencer with two Midi in / Midi out (32 Midi Chanels) to control external equipment..

  • @ozzlanda go the soundcloud and search for dayflight.

  • price anyone?

  • $3,400

  • THis is awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Yes I like them too and the Octopus is the King od Midi Sequencers

  • Awesome, i like hardware sequencers!

  • Man, Awesome

  • really like the demonstration

I was wondering, how difficult is it to add sound effects to this device?

What program do you run this monster through?

And how much do they go for?

  • Hi,

thx that you like the demo videos. I trigger a Virus TI and a MacBook Pro with Live. Its not difficult. You must only set the correct Midi Channel and selct good sounds on your machines.

    Cheers

    Dayflight

  • Very nice

    I kinda have your setup

  • I think that is not the way we should communicate.

  • you are absolutly right, I definitly apologize for this very stupid communication from my side.

    jens

  • thanks for your understanding. Make it better.

  • Hi droolmaster,

yes its only a basic demonstration which hits the surface. But it shows people

the principals of usic this fantastic midi instrument. Deeper actions are dificult to show in such short videos, recorded at home.

  • Hello fellow Octopus user. Yes. Best sequencer ever. The Genoqs people are extremely nice, helpful, and responsive. This is my favorite piece of electronic music gear of anything I've ever owned. And it keeps on getting better.....this video only scratches the surface.

  • best. sequencer. ever.
