If you're for keeping it legal then you're contridicting yourself. We have drunk driving laws which will never stop all the drunk drivers, but if alcohol was illegal I doubt very much that would have much of an effect on drunk driving. It would only create another 1930s Chicago, exactly as "The War on Drugs" is doing now.

True, people who are drug-free seem to live happier lives than even the casual user. I used drugs a lot about 30 years ago and I regret every minute. I'm a hundred times happier now. No one is stuck with it. Any new agreement can replace it at any time, just as it replaced the Canada – United States Free Trade Agreement that preceded it.

On this point we disagree. Drugs will always exist, and as long as they do people will use them. Let's not forget, alcohol is also a powerful drug, addictive, and destructive. If you're for keeping it legal then you're contridicting yourself. We have drunk driving laws which will never stop all the drunk drivers, but if alcohol was illegal I doubt very much that would have much of an effect on drunk driving. It would only create another 1930s Chicago, exactly as "The War on Drugs" is doing now.

Marijuana has a very strong penetrative smell that the vast majority of people here in the US, Mexico and Canada cannot tolerate understandibly. Most addicts will admit they hate being addicted, it leads them to do stupid things to get the drugs. In this case i do suppot gov involvment because i do see drugs and the gangs as a serous threat.

True, people who are drug-free seem to live happier lives than even the casual user. I used drugs a lot about 30 years ago and I regret every minute. I'm a hundred times happier now. Still, the government should stay out of people's personal lives. That was the main reason this country was founded, and our problems all stem from the government's constant intrusion in our lives.
Also, the ONLY reason gangs have anything to do with drugs is they are illegal. Legalise and end that problem.

Then i still respectfuly disagree with you. Drugs are obviously a serious issue and something has to be done to stop these gangs. We need to stop drugs from destroying more lives. People must get the message that it is not worth it to be on that crap because of the health and legal problems they would get into. I have no sympathy for drug dealers. The reality is that they are evil people and something has to be done to stop them.

I agree with your sentiments 100%. I believe that drugs are bad, however with the exception of Marijuana. Pot is absolutely, without a doubt, less dangerous than alcohol, and I believe that if an otherwise law-abiding citizen wants to smoke a joint after work to relax, then it's nobody's business, ESPECIALLY the government's.
As far as drugs in general, keeping them illegal does not stop people from doing them, and the enforcement of drug laws is incredibly expensive!

I just heard the other day that there's a country (can't remember which one) where drug possession is no longer a crime. Now, the number of people turning themselves into rehab has DOUBLED, and drug use is actually down.
If you think about it, it's much like the gun laws. If a criminal wants to get a gun, he will. If a drug addict wants to get drugs, he will, law or no law.
Yes, drugs destroy lives, but partly BECAUSE they are illegal.

I respectfuly disagree with you 0rip0. Im not a lawyer but i do know a thing or two about the constitution. Eminent Domain is not unconstitutional. The owners are given proper compensation for the land the gov. needs. It is expensive but what is not? Anyway, most people are not well educated about this idea. Many believe it is some evil, sinister conspiracy but it is the total opposite in reality. This is for everyones benefit. A counrty that hurts its people is only hurting itself.

What is the big fucking deal about Mexican trucks, the deal goes both ways, American trucks would also have access to Mexico. To had already been proven Mexican trucks are reliable. The big deal isn't the trucks, it's the fact they they will no longer be inspected at the border. That means truckloads of drugs, illegal aliens, guns, and God knows what else, can be easily smuggled across the border without fear of getting caught.
The real reason is to eliminate the borders. Mexicans want that so that the least desirable citizens will flood into the U.S., but we don''t want them any more than you do. Mexico needs to take responsibility for their problems.

20 years ago I was being told that the US, Canada, and Mexico would be one nation by 1996. Then they changed it to 2000, Then 2003, then 2006, then 2008, now I'm being told it will be 2010. That level of contradiction is enough to discredit all of this.

12 million is the government's estimation. An example of how accurate they are is in 1986 they thought there were only 300,000 illegals in the country. It turned out to be 2.7 million.
