  • EXCELENTE

  • standard question: how long did you practice for that solo?^^

  • @Razorkid666 some three years of everyday practice of about 2-3 hours. But let's face it - this is sloppy :)

  • @botman1 three years?!?!?!? lmfao

  • @botman1 Holy shit! 2-3 hours for three years????

  • @diogorenato Well I didn't practice ONLY this solo. It becomes boring after 2 months but you make a short break and you come back to it eventually. I've built my speed and technique for 2-3 years in order to be able to play this solo. This is not impressive however! There are much more difficult solos like "never enough" by DT :)

  • @botman1 some may wonder is john petrucci has ever slept but just practices guitar at night

  • jesus i am tired of people saying "oh no that is fast it doesnt have emotion" you people either never take the time to listen to good guitar or you lack the talent to play fast. watch this kid's video on the E major arpeggio with legato and then shut the fuck up

  • Very impressive playing, I like it :)

Just ignore negative comments about speed lacking emotion, it's bullsh*t and usually coming from people who lack the technique to play fast. Speed can be emotion, nothing more, nothing less :) Keep on doing what you do :)

  • at least play with some feeling...because what you are doing will get you nowhere

  • @gibsonlp1102 Feeling comes with years of playing and you won't expose feeling on a solo like this. Anyway, how am I supposed to treat your comment seriously if you don't have a single clip of yourself playing?

  • @botman1 i dont have a camera...and feeling doesn't necessarily come after years of playing...you usually have it or you dont..but i have it...and people call me a prodigy or a wizard all the time..and yeah i could be lying right now...but im not...and i looked at this kids other videos and that is what im basing my comment off of

  • @botman1 and yeah you can play fast and i know it is hard and i respect you for that...but its boring and predictable if all you do is go fast...and i know that you were just playing the song for how it is..but im kinda talking in general right now

  • @gibsonlp1102 I suggest you watch my Dream Theater - Octavarium ending solo then.

  • @gibsonlp1102 ur an idiot..

  • @smagmatits im nott an idiot...im 15 years old and i already take guitar from berklee...i think i know what im doing

  • @gibsonlp1102 LOL, Okay, you're a fag AND an idiot, sorry I left that out geez

  • pretty good version, but could be better, sounds like mine

  • That was full of balls and chunk. Great playing my friend. You see I am keeping an eye on you !!

Are you playing with anyone now ? Please let me know what you have been up to.

    Dave.

  • Nah, not even searching for a band anymore. I've got a new hobby now, motorcycles :) Btw this video is... 2 years old or so. I've re-upped this video because it had some audio/video synchro problems. Anyhow I'm just posting a new vid and I hope you'll enjoy it.

  • must have to taken ages to learn to speed

    very nice!

  • It took me some 3 years overall but I really started practicing for speed for 2 years. I wouldn't be able to play that solo now anyway ;)

  • I wonder if I could play it now, I've only been playing for just over a year but DT has raised my technique immensely :P I just suck at learning the whole song because after a while it seems too long

That guitar is beautiful btw! :D

  • Learn the whole song. It's very easy to play and very nice! The only difficult stuff is this solo and the speed ups just before it :)

  • I actually started learning it, I got up to 1.40 and then I don't know what happened xD

I'll defo pick on it later after I finish learning overture 1928

  • Post videos when you've mastered both pieces. And since you like prog, I suggest you look into Circus Maximus, Pagan's Mind, Andromeda and uh.. something different than prog.. Shawn Lane (Gray Pianos Flying, Get You Back <- you can find those on youtube) etc.

  • Thanks, I'll be sure to check them out. As for posting video's I was waiting until I had better equipment and until I was a little bit better myself.. lol but I know it's just an excuse because there are thousands of other guitarists on here who are much worse.
