  • you ppl need to improve your cooking plz....many faults are there.

  • Guys I love ur videos and have learned a lot from it...one thing I noticed in this video is u guys should have used food processor instead of blender..it's way more easier and appropriate

  • @ukhawaja06 : Shammi Kebabs are meant to melt in the mouth and using a food processor would not break down the meat as fine as using a blender. :)

  • Boring video.

  • nice recipe.what if one wants to cook the mince and the lentils over the flame? can it be done? waiting for your insightful reply....

  • @onoharahigashi : Yes, it can be done. It will take linger and you will have to keep an eye on it, stirring frequently and adding little water at a time. Tip: use a pan that has a tight lid.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry :tanx.keep those curry pots bubbling away merrily.Best of luck to the both of you....

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Your recipes are really nice, thank you for being so kind and sharing all this.

  • you guys are awesome :D

  • I love Kebab, no less

  • called shaami kebabs, because in pakistan its normally eaten in the evening meal, when it is evening...aka shaami in urdu... :S

  • omg, I miss this from pakistan, and now I can make it for myself here in HOlland, thanks so so so much. love you aunties

  • @AfghanpowerNL aww u love aunties.

  • I daresay you have to hunt chicken too, both before and after its head has been chopped off. :D

  • REAL men HUNT their meat.....

  • Thank you for the video and recipe.

We'll be also having shami kebabs everyday :)

  • and i love show me the curry vids, and am so grateful to them for posting their recipes!

  • My mom makes shammi kababs all the time, but we use beef cause I am from Pakistan. however you guys didn't mention it can be cooked with beef.

  • tooba, you'll need a anothor video to discuss the different types of 'shami kebabs' out there which can be made and invented, try also, courgette shami kebabas, or mixed vegetable, or onion and potatoe, or turkey, or fowl, or fish, or salmon, or trout, or haddock, or cod....Get the picture?

  • hafsa, i disagree with u. i am not saying there aren't other types of shammi kababs out there, but all i am saying is my mom makes the beef ones because those are more popular, get it?

  • Tooba read my ealier comment as you obviously haven't. The point is that Shami kebaba can be made with other ingredients as you mentioned beef, but it doen't mean that it MUST be included in this video juts because it's you think the one your Mum makes is more popular. For us, lamb is popular and it doesn't matter which is popular, I am grateful that they took the trouble to show us the video. At least be thankful, instead of being demanding, and very childish.

  • was not being demanding at all, just pointed out that beef should be mentioned as an option because half the people watching are beef eaters. i am aware it can be made with other ingredients, and thats fine, but beef is one of them too. I dont care what is more popular with you, cuz it was mentioned, but beef was not. sorry you dont eat beef, maybe your lack of protein makes you bully people on youtube, go eat a steak, you might like it.

  • omg...you dont need to explain yourself to these ppl at all, you didnt say anything wrong, these ppl are just attention seekers, making an issue out of nothing, dont pay any attention to these idiots.

  • @tooba1980 You are contradicting yourself when you say this is a free website and everyone can say what they want when you don't allow others to express their different opinions. Learn to take criticism and accept when you are wrong esp. when you yourself are being abusive and discourteous. Lamb or beef it doesn't matter and it's certainly not worth fighting over.

  • hafsa? apparently you are an ignorant you tube bully who does not understand a word of what i am saying and just wants to throw ur anger out on ppl posting comments, this is a free website and ppl can post anything, you are not a king, and you are certainly not the king of youtube either. as i said before and i will say it AGAIN shammi kababs are normally and originally made with beef, and should be mentioned as an option on the video, just like EVERY other meat was mentioned.

  • @tooba1980 @tooba1980 There was no need for you to resort to personal attacks or be patronizing or judgmental. You do not know me and so can't judge me. You said they "should" have mentioned beef, but why should they? Is this YOUR video? It is their right to speak their own mind so why are you telling them what to say? It's their freedom of expression and by telling them what *you* think they *should* say it is you who are in fact bullying them.

  • and with all the different types of kababs, beef should have been mentioned as an option, cuz not all people watching are non-beef eaters.

  • Hello Hetal and Anuja... I am hooked to your videos. Woo hoo! Love all of them. Reminds of home...

My mom made shaami kabaab all the time. However, she had the mixture of meat and daal really dry. Yours had some moisture. Also, she didn't use bread crumbs. She dunked the kabaabs in a well-beat egg mixture and shallow-fried them on medium heat. So I must say your oil consistency in the video is absolutely right and perfect.

Thank you, ladies and may God bless your dining table!

  • do you have to put eggs

  • thanks a lot ladies. u help me a lot in this regards.

  • That's right.

"Belad al-Sham" is the Urdu word for "Levant"--that part of the world that is today's Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, etc.

"Shammi Kebab" is Kebab from Sham.

This dish is almost identical to the Shammi dish "Kibbeh". You can try Kibbeh at any Lebanese restaurant. Bulghul is replaced with Channa dhal instead.

  • That's really interesting - I've been eating shammi kababs all my life in India and I always wondered why they were called that - you are a cultivated person

  • If you are cutting on oil you can use a spray like Pam

  • Very true and a very good option. Thanks for pitching in!

  • That is not surprising;-) reminds me of the book by Chetan Bhagat (One night at the call center)...between the 2 of us, we have about 8-10 shammi kebab recipes, but 1 more will be more than welcome!

As for making a video, we just can't promise one right now maybe later....:-(

  • iv read that book.. quite good. keep up the great work.

  • Hey Hetal n Anuja... its a great recipe! The kebabs look delicious! Though i make it li'l in a diff sytle which i wud love tell u guys (therez a catch though..lol)only if u promise to upload a video with my recipe.

I love to watch ur recipes, u guys r excellent! Keep up the good work... gud luck!

    Ash

  • at first i though it would turn out horrible because its so muchy and soft, but after seeing the forming procces i understood why it needed to be like that.

    great video, thanks for uploading.

  • WOW! Thank you so much for the insight and the information.

  • Hi there,

the word "Shammi" origin comes from the Arabic region "the Levant", which in Arabic is called "Al-Shamm", and the person who is from there is called "Shammi". Also, the food from the Levant is called "Shammi food". Kebobs come originally from that region, as well as southern Turkey. Hope that explained the meaning of the word "Shammi".

P.S. your cooking is delicious. Keep up the good work! ;)

  • Great videos but may want to increase the audio feed into the video. The volume is high only when u have the dubbing.

  • thanks for the feedback...will look into it.

  • Looks very yummy cant wait to try it. Thank you.

  • should be called shammi burgers not kebabs they look nice cant wait to make them
