hi there i put the sub in a .80 ported box at 2 ohms to an alpine mrp m-500 cuz its was cheap honestly i like the way the amp sounds but it sucks cant turn volume past 30 on a pioneer deck wit out it cutting out wat you think is a good cheap amplfier

@johnq29 That amp should be enough power for it.  I dunno what max volume is on your HU (possibly 40?) but if it doesn't get louder past 30 and you have more clicks to go, your gain is set too high or you have one of the bass adjustments up on the HU. Your other option is power wire is too small or ground connection could be improved. I'm guessing it's the gain setting though, you're probably just maxing it out.

also i went to al and eds lookin for an amp one day and i told the sub was an 8 inch and 20 pounds they were holy fuck i took the sub the next day they didn't who ya'll were which is kind of a shame

@johnq29 Yes, that is on the top of the big side that is good. You can't break it in wrong, playing it breaks it in, and it doesn't take much before it is. Run it at full throw for 15-20 seconds and it should be all the way loose.

is .6 cubes sealed good or bad for the sub? is it possible to put it in the box with the magnet outside

@johnq29 That's too big unless you don't have much power for it. Honestly, nobody uses them sealed so I'd hate to try to recommend something. If I had to guess, I'd say probably 0.4-0.5 at most. Keep in mind, the sub displaces 0.1 itself. Yes, you can invert it like any other sub.

i finally found out a place in downtown l.a. on central and ave. that sold this little fucker and i got a 2ohm and got it today had ti drive from store to warehouse but that shit was worth i say thank you to u and the people who went into building it and i might put epoxy once i break it in seriously keep up the good work

@johnq29 On the first release (without the spider ring), it's best if you put epoxy on it BEFORE it has a chance to come loose. If you do it before hand, it probably will never let loose. All the current ones (since late July) have a bolt in ring to secure the spider so that isn't necessary.

Whoever told you they'll handle the same power is a moron. Directly from their website "Voice coil length is a respecable 19.8mm, the top plate is 10mm thick So Xmax is 4.9mm ". They don't know what they are talking about and if it has 4.9 mm of xmax, it's useless for bass. The basket doesn't have much clearance to do more than that.

They sell them for $40 a pop, the quality can't be anywhere near the SA8. I'm pretty sure that Apex won't take 2000 watts LOL The Apex coil is less than an inch long, I'm sure its not more than 2 layers, and it is probably a 1.5" coil. I don't see it taking more than 200 watts on a good day. I've personally put obnoxious amounts of power on an SA8 over and over again.

It wont perform nearly as well as an SA8. It's got 50% less excursion, far less power handling, not built as strong, 4 ohm only, not as efficient, and Fs is higher. I don't know how well they work in ported either, SA8's love ported.

Yes, an SAE-1200d would be a perfect match for a pair of SA8's. I sell that stuff too, I can do something for ya when you're ready.

The SA8 is superior to the 1508 in my testing with both. The 1508 went into power compression, wasn't as loud, and isn't built as well. I've done excessive testing on the SA8 and you can't break one using it anywhere near recommended usage. I won't say what it takes to break one, but if you do, you're an idiot LOL.
