That had nothing to do with the song itself! besides, the "silent night" was actually about the original first Christmas, not something in the middle of the Middle Ages. Plus the song was written in 1816 by a priest, asking his friend to write the tune. It is one of the few carols that has been translated into so many languages, everyone can sing it!
