  • @clintdack Over all the experience of creating & posting these videos has been a great one. I have been afforded to opportunity to meet a lot a great people from all around the world. Like with anything there will always be varying points of view but I believe these instructional videos have helped folks out. So for that I consider them a success.

ps. where I come from the waffle iron would be an Iron Skillet & is referred to as Skillet Facing ;>)

    Thanks to all.

  • thanks for providing this excellent resource. I'm going to have to be an asshole and say I would have preferred it in D too - that's the key on the fiddle!

  • @guitashamilele Once a fiddle tune has been transferred to another instrument everything is fair game. We as guitar players are not able to completely mimic the technique of a fiddle so some part of the tune gets given up right there.

I put it is C position because thats how I learned it...I left the capo out of the mix so to not complicate things for those of you who are beginners.

If you would like to purchase a backing track email me, I can record it in ay key you like.

  • adam i appreciate this video so much , it is just an awesome way to learn. to see the tab, hear it slow to learn the melody. then speed it up just an amazing lesson and just wanted to say thank you. I am learning the c chord right now and really helps alot. i am going to email you for the tab hope you will pass it on to me thanks again....

  • I don't want to be a bessewisser, but there's a small notational error in bar 3 of the B-part... the high F note over the Dm chord, should be a D, right? Yrs truly Perry

  • @perryguitar Hey Perry, It's not an error just a choice on my part. You can play a D there for sure & it would sound great. I chose the F, which is the minor 3rd of the Dm chord for this arrangement. It works either way...

    Adam

  • Isn't this song supposed to be in the key of D?

  • @Sunderlanding Flat pickers play it in both C position & D position. If you play it in C position but want it to be in D, just capo second fret & jump in. Check out Norman Blake or David Grier for samples here on youtube, you find that that is what they're doing.

    Adam

  • @adamschlenker No no. I play it in D (the original key I think) but I don't use a capo so this backing track is useless to me. It's just too bad because there aren't a lot of bluegrass backing tracks on here.

  • @Sunderlanding This video is intended for folks who are learning the tune in C position. In order to keep it easy for new pickers, I did it in the key of C so they would not have to deal with the capo to play it in D.

Maybe you can take the opportunity to learn it in C position...playing a tune in a new position will only open you up to new options.

    Adam

  • @adamschlenker They could always learn it in D without the capo. Anyway, I don't want this to turn into an argument, but I always figure it's best to learn it in the original key first. Either way, you have fun playing it in C!

  • @Sunderlanding I agree that arguing about it is useless. I'll just say that I prefer to play it in C position & I know a bunch of other folks that do to...I learned it from a Norman Blake recording & he was playing it in C position...to each is own here.

Check out Norman Blake instructional of this tune. He teaches it in C position but capo's to the key of E flat.

  • Wow great tune. I never realized just how complex bluegrass is and how perfect that type of music is for acoustic guitar. Ill be watching all of your lessons. Thanks for posting these.

  • @muchalotto Flat picking fiddle tunes is a lot of fun & great for your playing.

    Have fun!

    Adam

  • Great fiddle tune!!
