Scott Joplin - "Sunflower Slow Drag" - first strain

I have been trying to learn this tune and prefer to do it a bit faster, although it's supposed to be a "slow drag." Have you listened to The pianist on the New England Ragtime Ensemble play this? He does it fairly fast. The tune is unbearably long if done slowly, I think. I just love the last strain. It sounds like a waterfall.

Regarding the way of playing, nowadays, I play ragtime in between 60-80 bpm. This movie is quite old. Soon I will upload another video.

Besides, kungfurry, ragtime tunes were swung even in Joplin's time, and I like some of his rags when there are played that way and not like a straight ahead march; especially this rag needs some swing, I think.

You are obviously a very good player but that was WAAAAY too fast. Slow it down and it would be really good.

no, you are wrong. this was probably intended to be performed somewhere in the realm of 81-92 bpm.
